1 year, $3.5 million.

From NFL.com

Kinda wish the Hawks had got in on that action. That's dirt cheap for a WR with his talent.

1 year deals aren't going to help us, or him on this offense. We've got 3 locks on the roster, Sid might be coming back, Finley would be a tweener and you better believe we'll draft a catcher with our first three picks.

Nicks isn't all that anyway.

No receiver is going to come here on those prove it deals, we don't throw the ball as much as the Colts do.

Us and the Niners aren't going to get these guys.

If healthy he's a 1 but with the durability issues we've had at wide receiver I'm glad they're going a different direction.

He'd only decrease his value by playing here on a prove-it deal. Colts are weak at receiver. He has an opportunity to put up numbers there and get a big deal afterward.

Like I said before, if Panthers GM Dave Gettleman, multiple Super Bowl winner from the Giants, didn't want the hometown kid in Nicks despite drafting him in the first round and having virtually nothing at the WR position at this point, what does that say? Production, measurables, injuries, laziness? I dunno, although Nicks has had questions regarding all of the above. Sure, Gettleman could be wrong and no one knows his plan, but it says a lot.

Nicks will perform well with all the media attention he will get playing with the chosen one. Luck will have one of the NFL's best receiving cores next season. No more excuses for him.

Now what will the Hawks do to improve?

His plan doesnt look very good from here. Having some continuity between recievers and the QB is important. That said I see them signing Jones and my gut says Rice as well.

You're right, in an ideal situation continuity between QB and WR is very important. The Panthers WR situation by any reasonable measure is far "less than ideal". But since this is a Ginn thread, there's a reason he's on his 4th team in 6 years after only one in Carolina. Same with Hixon (4 in 8 years). And the Patriots, despite their seemingly infinite wisdom, aren't immune to gaffes (ie Ochocinco and no title in a full decade)-LaFell is awful. Smith will be 35 this year.

In Cam's rookie year his #2 WR was Legedu Naanee and he played great, the D was bad that year. If you are right and the Panthers do sign Jones and/or Rice and/or Cotchery and draft Cooks/Benjamin/Beckham/et al. that's a better (and cheaper) corps than last year and it's not even close. JMO.

Do they still have Cap space available to bring in a limo driver?
