Overall, I was more than pleased with the performance from the team on both sides. We dominated TOP which alone is usually an indicator of who won. Some nice plays by multiple players. Defense looks revitalized. Seeing more of that dog mentality that’s been missing since the LOB days.

A good start for the Mike Mac Era. Yes it’s only the first preseason game but it was enjoyable to watch.

PS…Our kicker makes me damn nervous.

The first half of this game was more entertaining than many of the regular season games over the last 6 or 7 years. This team seemed more interested in playing a full 4 quarters of football in a preseason game then any of Pete's teams have in a regular season game since the Superbowl loss.

Yeah... I thought it was a very positive start. The D was very stout!

I was happy to see Macintosh get some carries... he did good.

Also a nice battle brewing for the 2nd string QB. I like walker he has a cannon for an arm. Howell looked decent

Give some props to Young for really nice catches.

I was disappointed that they couldn't punch the ball in the endzone inside the 5 Chargers had a nice goal line stand. Hopefully they get that O line sorted out.

I didn't see anything that made me throw up.. solid first game...

Our kicker is in mid season form. He’s going to drive us nuts this season (again).

Yeah that drive that stalled at the 1 was disappointing. Shades of Mike Holmgren choosing to run up the middle over and over. Why are coaches so afraid to naked bootleg in those situations?

Our punter has to be one of the best in the league. He averaged inside the opponent’s 5 yard line every punt.

Howell is okay. Nobody I want to see start for us any time soon but he has true potential. Decent arm. Nowhere near Geno’s accuracy but he’s definitely a worthy backup. Just keep working.

The fact that they looked this good without playing many of their starters nor showing any real schemes and looks they will reveal in the regular season is even more reason to be pleased with their performance.

I'm just hoping that running in the red zone doesn't turn into a problem theme. It feels like They kinda had that problem last year as well... this is where Grubb had to show some creativity...to early to tell at this point but it's definitely something they need to work on... seemed like Mac got a couple of short yardage first down runs so maybe it was just the back they had in there... we will see.

It could also be that Grubb is certainly not wanting to show their hand so the running up the middle on successive plays was perhaps a diversion?
This. I'm sure they could have came up with something more creative, but took it as an opportunity to see how their oline performed in a goaline situation and to see what they have in their running back stable.

Was going to post the exact same thing. Preseason games are for evaluation. Mac and Grubb wanted to see if the O-line and RB could get the job done in that situation.

Had it been a regular season game, I'm confident they would have gotten a little more creative.

Overall, even though it was primarily backups the entire game, I was very impressed, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. Wherever the ball went, there were always defenders near the play, and many times, 2 or 3 defenders.

That was the most satisfying and enjoyable preseason game I can remember in a very long time. I'm excited about this team and this coaching staff.

It's hard to imagine a better start for the defense. We didn't allow a first down until there was less than 5 minutes left in the first half. The Chargers didn't run a single offensive play from inside our 35. The defense was flying around, lots of excitement, almost a playoff feel. Consistent pressure on their QB, only allowed 77 yards rushing, should have had at least one more pick.

Offense wasn't bad. Howell played a solid if not spectacular game, didn't turn the ball over or take any bad sacks. It was almost like watching Pete Ball, low risk, heavy on the run, don't put the D in bad positions. McIntosh ran hard. Disappointing that we got stuffed at the goal line.

All in all, a very good start for the Macdonald era. Let's hope it carries through to the regular season.

I really enjoyed the fact that we were 11/20 on 3rd down conversions. And that 3rd and long didn't feel like a give up play. And when was the last time we had our offense out there for 79 plays for 39:09 minutes? That in itself showed me the Seahawks have the talent and depth to take things farther this year than the pundits suggest.

Defense was nice to watch. I loved seeing the guys all over the ball. I also appreciated seeing a clean game. And I loved the dominance even with vanilla basics all game. These young men have bought in to what Mike Macdonald is selling.

I like what the new kick off rules are doing for the game. 1. Player safety is huge for me. 2. Getting those returns are going to be pivotal for game strategy. And I like what Shenault showed in the return game. 3. I didn't mind seeing the Landing Zone Violation from Meyers as it let the defense show they can pin their ears back and still dominate the opposition.

Overall, I like what the Seahawks put on tape. Enough to evaluate the depth but not so much to give any true offensive or defensive scheme away. I'm excited for this season.

Howell is progressing faster than I thought with a new offensive scheme. Howell understands the throwing windows that this offense is designed to do very well aalready.

McIntosh and Holani looked good out there inside or outside running the ball.

I think Young has the sixth spot locked up but White is going to make it a competition.

Hall was very active in and around the line which is promising.

Levelston showed some tenacity out there. Might be someone to keep an eye on as his lone stats sheet line was a sack but he was a handful throughout the game when he was in or it seemed that way.

A big part of that time of possession was our defense. The Chargers didn't get a first down until there was less than 5 minutes left in the half. They never got closer than our 38 yard line. I thought that the offense was just OK, didn't do anything to lose the game.

I generally don't get too excited over a preseason game, but I sure liked the attitude on the field by our defense, flying all over the place.

I remember last season all the complaining about not running
in the RZ.
I'm sure in a regular game with starters and the full playbook
it would have been different but expect more running in RZ.
Grubb uses the pass to open it up and I am excited because
Peteball/Waldron mess is over.
The D was flying all over - No complaints with that at all,
I want fighting practices if this is what happens.

Agreed. I find it hard to pick out a guy who didn't perform as well or better than expected. I thought all our guys showed up and executed very well. I also like how each see last night as something to build on instead of something to celebrate.
Most of all I was very impressed by our defensive effort for the Chargers first four possessions of the game, holding them to a grand total of 8 yards. That is indicative to me our defense has already made good strides compared to last year.
