A long as the human element persists, mistakes will be made. I'm not convinced the league is scripted. The NFL may be a grandiose tv show. But an unscripted one at that with an outrageous budget.
I mimic what others have stated: If the NFL was indeed scripted, I would stop watching sports all together. The amount of money at stake is so enormous, I'm not convinced the ends would justify the means if they were ever found out. They would need to have so many fail safes and damage control on standby to deal with such a huge PR disaster if they were discovered. I don't think they would take that risk.
The NFL is quite the spectacle. The presentation, the people in attendance cheering their teams, the over-the-top stadiums, the history, and of course, the athletes. I'm not sure where television would be without professional sports; Dying a slow death, I suppose. I probably wouldn't even have TV if sports weren't televised. It makes me wonder if the league would be much different if the games weren't televised. I'm guessing the product would be slightly altered due to less exposure and a lot less people wanting to become football players. But I digress.
