Well, I am holding my tongue because it would be very reactionary. Love MRob the person, the player, and the producer. Sad to see him go, but our Front Office has earned my trust, so I will hold my peace.

Hey Mike, we totally appreciate everything you have done... but, your sick and you can't start, and even though we don't need to free up cap space we are dropping you. If you get better we might bring you back later.

Ya I know that Ware and Coleman didn't look very good, even against the Raiders, but we are the Seahawks, and we need everyone to know that we will absolutely under no circumstances show any loyalty. It's all about the winning my friend, you understand it's a business. Ya I understand you were a critical part of the team, but we just can't pay you the 2.5 mil.

You think the players don't look at this and say, "sheesh, these guys aren't going to get a team discount when my contract comes up."

Ok, it's over dramatic on purpose, but sheesh, come on Hawks.

Definitely worried about this. How much of ET or Sherman does 2.5m buy anyway? I think erring on the side of sentiment in this case maybe saves money down the line with other contracts.

Considering ET already makes a lot of money because he came in before the new CBA, a $2.5 mil/year increase in his salary seems about right. Next year, Rice's $11 million will go towards Sherman and the young guys will still have a couple years on their cap friendly rookie contracts.

It's a business guys. The business is winning. Spending too much for certain positions is not good business.

Really really bad move.

This is one of those moves we look back on if we fail to reach the SB and say "What if?"

Not as bad as the Hutch trade but probably not far off in impact.

We have a run first team. To get rid of your probowl FB who not only was great at opening holes for the run game, but also did a good job at chipping the speed rushers to keep the QB safe, and presented a sure handed dump-off guy when your QB was under pressure - where is the logic in that?

If this team fails to win it all, we might just look back at this and point to this cut and the Harvin signing that likely forced it, as the two largest contributing factors. That isn't hyperbole.

Yes indeed.

English on the other end of the stick. Doesnt like it. Wont remember this feeling come draft time. Surprise.

Good luck finding anything I've ever written saying "I told you so."

lmao this move is terrible, we literally dont have a FB on the roster now. We have out of position scrubs that we force to play FB. Seems like something the raiders would do

You realize that A TON of teams don't have FBs on the roster....right?

A ton of teams aren't run-first, or even run-interested anymore. We are. In fact, our unusual passing game relies in many ways on the threat of the run.

I don't mind Davis Hsu's I-told-you-so's. At least he had good arguments for why MRob might be gone. I also think he's actually right often enough to justify contenting himself with the devil's advocate role in the blogosphere. A couple of other Seahawks bloggers have gambled on that after a lucky streak of good insight, then collapsed when they got overconfident with their opinions and had burned too many bridges. If you're gonna be unpopular as an indie blogger, you'd better be right 99% of the time.

Maybe he'll rejoin Moffitt in Denver so they can pick it back up where they left off. Gotta say that I'll be watching the Real Rob Report wherever it goes...

I'm sure Carroll/Schneider hated this move more than most, however they do not have the luxury of doing what they want - They see potential young HOFers getting paid in the next couple of years, and have to be responsible to the Seahawks' future.

Now Harvin, that's a different story. I suspect MRob would still be here if not for that extravagant contract. The emergence of Kearse & Williams this pre-season made Harvin an egregious error, by far the biggest of the current management's, but even before those two showed off it was still a bad move.

I think Davis could use a time out. He's tweeted about 1345 times in the last hour...

I think people are a little over the top on this. Sure he is a great player to root for and his off field videos are fun. I like the use of the H back type/TE piece for offense. We can line them up 3 te on the line or one in the back field one on the line one split or... We can use a lot of combinations and run and pass from the set.

Yes, because you can't run the ball without a FB. You do understand that most teams are now using a TE to block if needed or running out of spread formations. Look at the college game. This isn't 1980 anymore.

Figuratively shaking my head at most of these responses.

Rob only caught passes when the defenses ignored him and he was wide open. Seattle's offense is supposed to be more dynamic this year. You don't get more dynamic by having a traditional FB on the field. If he was in on 31% of the snaps last year, I expect that number to drop even more this year if he was on the team.

Man you fans are idiots for not liking that this guy is leaving, screw him. Why don't you stupid fans stop crying already. Seriously. You are the embarrassing fan. Call yourself out.

Or put some of this amazing "foresight" you have, and maybe educate us little folks on your mastery of the NFL.

The worst part is the way they did it. Like nobody is going to notice, or it's just going to blow over? And NOTHING on Seahawks.com. Do they know how much the 12th man liked this guy?

With all respect, it was the fear of upsetting #12 that stuck us with (post contract) Alexander. This FO don't roll like that.

I liked Robinson but I think we can replace him with a cheaper option and not lose much. Wondering what Marshawn is thinking now.

The health of MRob is probably the issue. If he has to sit out for 2-3 weeks, it does not make much sense to pay him a full years salary. It is well known in the NFL that the last year or two of a contract are very negotiable. Many contracts are restructured without any of us even knowing.

If MRob does have a "virus", it could be a fairly serious condition for an NFL player. Many of us could work with a nagging virus, lose weight and energy in the process and get by. Playing NFL fullback, is another story.

This move probably allows an extra D-lineman to be carried.

These moves are not made lightly, I am sure Pete and John now how important MRob was to this locker room.

You've been doing a lot of judge, jury, executioner on fan responses and reactions. I'm a little embarrassed for all those Pats fans that have to come here and be subjected to it.

Anyway is anyone else excited for the possibility of Derrick Coleman making the team and tearing the league up?
