1) My first instinct: "Oh shit we just lost an important part of our team"

2) My second reaction: "In reality hes at a fairly unimportant position. Theres about 25 guys on the team I would be more upset if we cut"

MRob has got a virus
That brought dire straits to his environment
Crush your contract with a mild touch
Trash your payday and rob you of papyrus

But the bottom line is that the compete mantra was not followed. Neither Coleman or Ware made Robinson expendable.

Just because the outcome wasn't what you wanted doesn't mean it was not followed. Unless you have seen every preseason snap at practice, games, training, film, etc. you can't talk to that. Only Pete and the FO can. Now, it may not have been Ware/Coleman that made him expendable, could have been a move away from using a FB all together. Also could have been the fact that he wouldn't take a pay cut.

If Sidney Rice is in the final year of his contract making $13mil or whatever it will be and he is the 3rd best WR on our team yet 3 other WR's still can't beat him out does that mean the team should keep him? There are multiple reasons people get cut. Nobody beat Flynn out of his backup QB job, he was traded....does that mean the mantra wasn't followed?

Remember last year at this time when Flynn was benched and DANGERuss was named the starter......similar reaction. Only to be forgotten 5 months later. You will all be fine.

What? Don't get this move. Thought Mike Rob was a key part of our running game. He helped open lanes for Lynch.

I remember the games he wasn't in, our run game got stuffed! Don't like this at all unless the young guys can fill this spot better.

After having some more time to think about this move, the more I dislike it.

Really? The more I think about it, the less I care.

Adapt and move on or get left behind.

Not as bad as the Hutch trade but probably not far off in impact.

Uhh... Hutch didn't get traded.

Also, to draw a comparison to the best LG in the league, and the 2nd best lineman in Seahawks history to a 30+ year old FB is a massive overreaction.

That's the business of the NFL. But as a fan, this one hurts.

Could still be back if not picked up. Rough day for 12th man

I think the angle we need to really consider is the man has been ill, and we don't know how ill or how long it was going to take him to be 100%.

The salary cap angle is a little over stated in my opinion. I think if Rob was 100% this wouldn't have happened, but I don't think we'll ever know for sure.

Salary cap bloggers need to stop feeling so self-satisfied. It's nauseating.

Im sad to see the mikerob go, but this FO KNOWS what they are doing.
The overreaction's to likeable players being cut is expected as is the overreactions from the "high horse" crowd telling folks to get over it.

After watching Coleman very closely this preseason, I hate this move. The downgrade from Robinson to Coleman in run blocking is a steep one. It does save a tiny bit of money, but overall I think the FO made a mistake. This move was penny wise, pound foolish, and it will be a detriment to our run offense. If that means Seattle is emphasizing the pass more this season, then okie-dokie, but otherwise, this is just a silly move. If they just wanted to save cash, there were smarter ways of doing it.

Agree with this, itll be interesting to see who they move to FB now. And to see how Beast runs with a far less capable FB in front of him.

But yeah as a fan this sucks. Always enjoyed RRR and he was a great leader.

Real Rob Report is secondary. I think some of us are caught up in watching Lynch and MRob work together. Watching highlights and seeing them look synchronized, and also the fact that we, in Seattle, are used to a Fullback and without MRob there ain't a functional blocking fullback on the Roster.

Add in the fact that we really liked him and there you have the angst.

As a fan, I'll get wrapped up in players and personalities and enjoy them while they are here and the Front Office can deal with making tough personnel decisions. They are getting paid, we're just paying for the privilege of being fans (buyings stuff, going to games, etc).

I just shake my head when folks will come in here and compare us to fans across the league. Not every franchise has fans who wear their emotions on their sleeves, who refuse to leave the 4th Pre-Season game in the 4th qtr even though the starters only played a little while. New England fans? I don't care how stoic they are. They ain't the 12th man we are.

We fall in love with individuals on this team. So what. I also love John and Pete and their personalities and trust that they will make the right decisions.

It has nothing to do with him being likeable.

It has more to do with this team being a run first team that suddenly has problems at 2/4 of things you need to run the ball effectively.

Call me a skeptic but I seem to remember that we ran the ball significantly better with Robinson in last year and that was when we were not so thin at TE. So it is a reasonable concern.

That is why I likened it to the Hutch trade. (Yes I know it wasn't a trade but the joke has always been we traded Hutch for Burleson since we signed him for that big contract afterwards instead of just concentrating on keeping Hutch in the first place). Because that was a personnel move that negatively impacted the run game when we relied on the run for our success.

We relied on the run last year for our success too, and it was one of the things that was going to protect Wilson from people adjusting to him - you couldn't focus too much on him because we were going to beat on you with our run game. Coleman and Ware are going to be a massive yawning dropoff from what we had.
