Okay.

Couple weeks have gone by since the win. I thought that I'd bring up something that bugged me again during the year.

It's not the end of the world - but I wish that MM would get more 'involved' or get more tuned into the offense. During several pressers this past year I heard him say many things like "I'm not sure what's going on with that side of the ball". Things like that.

I get it. He's busy with the defense, and he's a madman at it. Just look at Maye on his back during LX. Can't fault him on D. There's NO way I'm trading MM for 'anyone'.

But between Grubb straight up ignoring him for a year while he stared at his shoes mumbling "I know, we gotta run the ball more", and some of KK's shennanigans in the first half of the season.

Just wish he'd flex his muscles a bit more on the OCs. He is the boss ya know.

Well, on his departure, Kubiak did state one of MM's endearing traits was making every part of the team accountable, including the offense. Seems MM after every game had a sitrep with Kubiak.

That sounds like a good balance between being responsible yet not meddling

I'm clearly a homer, because I'm not even mildly concerned about this offense. Now IF they don't bring back K9, I will be a little. Then again, I keep being told that RBs are a dime a dozen

That is not what people are saying. What people are saying is big second contracts for running backs are almost always a mistake.

Plenty of people are saying they are a dime a dozen, I just don't agree that's all. Hoping that if they do it, the deal is only for 3 years max.

OC for sure. But make no mistake about it, Mike is the DC. He calls the defensive plays.

Mike said he made more of an effort to get more involved with the offense this year. I would imagine he learned a lot from Kubiak and will only improve next season

The only people saying they are a dime a dozen are the straw men you like to argue with.

Even those of us who most think he is replaceable are advocating for signing him to a contract that allows him to earn 11 plus million APY if he proves to be able to maintain his season-ending pace for a full year.

Why three years max? Four years is team friendly, and allows him to potentially earn while on a prove it deal. Escalators allow him to bet on himself, and be rewarded for it, at today’s rates, and spread his cap hit out if he doesn’t.

I would agree that there absolutely needs to be a structure that gives us an out at three years.

We had ZERO choice when we hired Grubb. We had to wait until after the AFCCG in order to pursue MM. There was no one available that late in the season, so we were stuck with Grubb.
It was okay to me, you don't expect your OC to throw the ball when you tell him to run it more. Upside, it got Grubb canned, and we got one of the best OCs in the NFL. Imagine if Grubb had done just enough to keep his job? No Souper Bowl for you!

Watching the way the offense went from high-flying the first half of the year to emphasizing the ball control offense in the second half of the year and the playoffs, while still having explosiveness when needed.....my perception is that Mike was doing exactly what he needed to with the offense. We had the #3 scoring offense in the league and were closing out games with the run.

What the heck more do we want?!?

Mac knows the offense enough to have a defense that was number 1, you don't do that without knowing how an offense attacks. As far as our play by play, you want meddleing, then you wanted Pete who had his fingers in everything. You just won a world championship but all of a sudden want to change how the team works. If it's not broken don't fricken try to fix it.

Running Backs are a dime a dozen, but how about Backs that can outrun, out juke, out perform 11 guys on Defense? That's what we have and starting a fresh season with a new guy is always a gamble.

Signing Walker would be an easy call if he didn't miss so many games.

"I'm not sure what's going on with that side of the ball" -MM

I don't give a rip if the helmet heaters are making the offensive calls, get the win!

However it would be fun to have an OC that cares about that side of the ball as MM does about the Defense

For those that feel we can get a RB out of a vending machine, how many Curt Warners, Shaun Alexanders,Marshaun Lynch amd Ricki Watters are in that thing, how many quarters are you willing to spend to hopefully get one, quarters, dating myself now Dollars.
