...If the Rams are blowing out the Niners by the fourth this Sunday by over 30 in the fourth, the rational move would be to preserve Stafford while seeing what Garoppolo can do being thst they haven’t seen him in a real game since the raiders.
Are you saying the Week 18 game last year didn't count and was meaningless? That won't be a popular point of view on this forum. :sneaky:

I see what you mean here, but that game was competitive throughout even with your starters rested, and you won not only the game but also an opportunity to assess your depth.

As far as our performance, I’ll just refer you to the fisher years where your team beat us and no one else.

Please don't refer me back to the Fisher years. That's just being mean. 😧

Yes, but it (point differential tiebreaker) is way down the list. It would have to be rare for the tie-break to reach down that far. However, consistently not putting the foot down until 0.00 isn't great... but isn't it valuable to give back-ups some experience in some games, and to possibly rest/protect the incumbent QB, etc, especially if they are carrying a worrying injury?

Haven't teams been accused OF running up the score, or is this a myth?

Completely different, FWIW, in Australian Rules footy, where percentage points (ratio for and against) is the first tie-breaker, and AFAIK it has never gone further than that. in fact, I have no idea even what other tie-breakers exist.
You're correct about the point differential tiebreaker. It would likely stop at strength of victory as it's next to impossible for two teams to have the exact same strength of victory score.

I have not heard any complaints about teams running up a score in quite some time, probably because nearly all teams do what the Hawks did last Sunday, ie pull their starters. What we're more likely to hear some day is teams manipulating the score due to gambling interests.

What are yall even talking about? Mike was clearly referencing his disdain with his defense giving up stats to the Commanders late in the game. I'm pretty sure that expectation of dominance he carries applies to the reserve units as well as the starters.

Reading is apparently difficult. As is watching a video.

Right? It doesn't matter if the final score was 52-0 or 7-0. He wanted his defense to finish the game. That's what he was referring to. Not keeping in Darnold to run up the score like some college team jockeying for playoff position.

Sounds like he was pissed that defensive guys made business decisions once the game was blown out. Again, there’s a defensive rotation full of backups waiting for their opportunity who will give you all they got, and maybe they’ll surprise you. The outcome is in hand after all.
