According to a report by Tom Pelissero, DK had a run in with that fan last year and reported him to security. Although that doesn't absolve DK, it says something about the character and intent of the fan. He isn't innocent and 100% got the result he wanted.

They should suspend DK for a game, fine him, and kick the fan out of all 32 stadiums.

More to this, when in Seattle this same fan was reported by Metcalf as threatening his mom and calling him derogatory names also. So what was said from a stalking fan may be more then we realize, I retract my judgement until this all comes out, it was not a moment of emotional stupidity that being the case, DK may have legitimate concerns.

Wow, didn't know all that. Like Keas is saying, that fan should just be banned from Stadiums if possible. Just because you pay your ticket price, doesn't automatically give you the right to be a jackwagon that some of these fans are. Not saying DK isn't in the wrong, but that's some info I hadn't heard at all.

DK shouldn't be over there and can't be over there

Zero good comes from that situation, get team security and let them deal with it along with the venue

He should get some deserved league punishment

The fan seems like a total jack wagon as well

The typical media hype is also ridiculous

To me in looks like he grabbed his shirt and held him close to say what he wanted and then shoved him back while releasing the shirt - again, not something you can do but this talk about punches thrown, arrests, giant settlements, etc is definitely overblown

I'm still not comfortable with suspending Metcalf. Especially at this point in the season, you're punishing the entire team, and I just don't see his actions rising to that level, especially if this latest report is true. Give him a 5-digit fine, but don't make him sit out a game.

As far as this fan goes, if there is any truth to this report, then by all means, ban him from every NFL stadium and league event for life.

I could be ok with DK not being suspended, I just think at some point, the dude needs enough of a wakeup call to start to help himself correct his own emotional issues.

On the flip side, the thing that annoys me about this is that back in the day, if some a-hole fan had the balls to verbally assault a Dick Butkus or another player from that era, there would be no story if they got punched for their BS. And most everyone would look at it as though the fan got exactly what he deserved.

Its some lame shhht that a fan can stand safely in their section and hurl insults all game at another human being.

The fan denies using the slur. Also a law firm is now involved.

This is what Google said.

pulling someone's hair is generally considered a form of assault or battery because it involves unwanted physical contact and force, falling under physical abuse and potentially leading to charges like simple assault, especially in domestic or workplace settings. While legal definitions vary slightly by jurisdiction (some defining it as battery for forceful touching), it's a criminal act that can result in fines, jail time, and a criminal record

Dudes getting suspended and most likely a hefty fine. Worse yet, another notch in his idiot belt. So glad we sent him packing.

Now every player in the league is going to call him by his real name just to see if they can get 15 free yards out of him

Never let someone know it bothers you, because if you do, they will keep doing it

For Metcalf's sake, maybe a suspension would help him control his emotions, but I doubt it. He's 28 years old and has plenty of opportunities to wake up and smell the roses. He's a man child.

The league has to look at a lot of things when considering suspending a player over something like this as it would fall under their personal conduct policy, which means the player's union would be heavily involved. They have precedents to look at. As far as I know, this is the first time that Metcalf has been in a situation where his actions may be in violation of the PCP. The incident itself was pretty lame, and there's evidence that the fan might have been taunting/stalking him. I'd be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Had LE gotten involved, then absolutely he should face some pretty strict discipline. But they obviously don't think the incident merits their involvement or else they would have at least questioned him about it.

Edit: I'm hearing now that the fan has hired a law firm to represent him and are making statements for him. What a POS!

Metcalf went out of his way to walk over to engage with the fan. He did not help his team by doing so, he did not act like a professional and 30 million a year, you need to be tough enough to put things on ignore.

He has to be one of the easiest baited player in the league. Everyone knows it, his opponents, the fans and the media. Right or wrong, they are going to ramp up their efforts in baiting him

He's been suspended the rest of the season, now Steelers fans can see the "real" DK they gave up a draft pick for and paid $30 million to, an over-rated douchebag who barely averaged 60 yards a game and didn't even get a 1k yards.

Wow Lawyered up and had a Statement by Monday afternoon, during the Christmas week no less, there is more to come I am sure, especially since there was also an incident in Seattle.

The NFL suspended DK for interaction with fans detrimental to the league, his story though is still a work in process, and he has yet to appeal.
