Matt Hasselbeck (in his prime) as much as we all love him, would have a hard time finding a roster spot on any team today.

Disagree.

Jimmy Garoppolo is another Matt Hasselbeck. Matt Schaub is a Matt Hasselbeck.
Hey hey hey, don’t insult Matt Hasselbeck with Garoppolo.

I’d take Hasselbeck in his prime over Garoppolo in his prime (whenever that is) any day.

What has Garoppolo shown? Nothing. At best Garoppolo is a clone of Alex Smith.

Hasselbeck could actually win games for you. Garoppolo can’t.

Have you ever heard any Niners fans ever say, “Jimmy G won us that game!”

No, because such nonsense is purely fictional in the daydreams of Niners fans.

They wish Jimmy G had playmaking skills, he simply does not!

Lol at Niners fans and their Jimmy G, QB!

Considering the cheap shot hit Matt took in San Francisco is what caused Matts back problems to start, I would also take Matt over Jimmy. He is smarter and more a leader then I have seen from Jimmy.

Hass is the #2 QB is Seahawks history, period.

Loved his moxie, respected his game and appreciated his demeanor and candor with the media.

Nostalgia is a funny thing, but if you rank ol' Mudbone, lefty or Jon Kitna Kaboodle above Hass you were either a kid when those other guys were playing or just fondly remember having some semblance of an offence back in the dark days of Seahawks football..

Hass led us to our first Owl, and with Holmgren, put the Hawks on the map as a formidable opponent that began to get some respect from the national media.

"We want the ball and we're gonna score" will live in infamy, and in spite of the end result, will always be yet another reason why Matt was a fan favorite and genuine leader behind center.

We were formidable under Knox just buried in the best division in football at the time in my opinion. We dropped off when Behring bought the Seahawks.

The antithesis would be to credit Hass for the quality of his surrounding cast while ignoring the accomplishment of those before who had no such benefit.
That and a fetish for Hass' wife?

True enough. Ground Chuck was legit.

However, I remember as a kid loving watching our defense kick the snot out of everybody and just hoping our offense could score a point!

Matt is hands down the 2nd best QB in franchise history and in his prime he would be lighting up this QB protected era of football. Not Russ level, but probably top 10 level.

The position is evolving there is no doubt about it.

Interesting question but I think there are multiple guys currently holding spots that are worse than Matt was.

Hass in his prime? He was fantastic. Maybe not Russell Wilson/Patrick Mahomes fantastic, but he was a scrappy, very good QB with an accurate arm who we won a lot of games with. Hope to see him in the Ring of Honor someday.

He absolutely would start in the league right now. Solid player who did more with less physical talent than many guys.

Has there ever been more lopsided poll results than this? Guessing the 1 "agree" was the OP.

Matt may have not been a superstar, especially in today's NFL, but as others have said he'd be the glue for a lot of teams out there right now. He's smart, had a good arm, and was a fun guy. He would make a lot of really bad teams right now halfway decent, and a lot of fringe playoff teams almost guaranteed playoff teams.

Put Matt, in his prime, on the Eagles, Vikings, Denver, Miami, or Cleveland right now with their current rosters plus him, each of these teams would make at least 10+ wins.

Russel transcends teams. Matt ain't that, but he is a stabilizing presence.

Hasselbeck might be better in todays game than he was when he played. Rule changes and the change in offensive philosophy probably help him.
Of course he would be. They ALL have benefited. That's why we're seeing what we're seeing.
Damn straight!
I laugh at the hype I see on a lot of QB's who never had to
endure what past QB's like Hass had to.
People don't know why the past completion% is lower and try
to say talent or skill set.. :34853_doh:
I dare to say Hass disk problem never happens under todays
(Be nice)to the QB rules..It makes a big difference.

True but go back further to the Days when Namath came in the league, gladiatorial combat without swords.

Hard to imagine the OP was actually serious about this. As others have already said, Hass was the Hawks 2nd best QB in franchise history, and I do believe he deserves to go into the Hawks ROH some day.

He was a great leader, had the will to win at all costs, much like RW, and although he didn't have a cannon for an arm, he was very accurate. He lead us to our first Super Bowl, and had the refs not completely screwed us in XL, Hass would have been the Super Bowl MVP that year.

I've been a passionate Hawks fan from the birth of the franchise, and Hass is one of my all-time favorite Seahawks. For the OP to say that in his prime Hass wouldn't even make a roster in today's NFL is asinine, which I think pretty much everyone agrees with based on the poll results. Just a ridiculous comment.
