I’m sitting here still digesting yesterday’s meals and a few glasses of wine and I started roaming around YouTube on the BoobTube and I’m watching Geno’s press conference from yesterday. Suddenly I find my Turkey-laced brain cells wondering if Hawks fans would prefer Matt Hasselbeck in his prime over Geno the past couple years?
Hass in a ******* new york minute.

But I am, and always will be a Hass homer.

And I don't even care about any other 'it's a different league/game/oline/etc' comparisons.

Hass all day, every day. I'm just sorry I lost my framed autographed by him photo of him.

Rat it's the very same demeanor. No difference. I've seen Geno getting into it on the sidelines with his teammates. The mopey behavior that you refer to is hardly unique to Geno. It happens --- it is not unusual. I've seen it from Brady, Manning, Rodgers, etc. I don't think looking at that aspect of Geno's behavior is sufficient to call him a bad leader.

If I head a good deal of grumbling from teammates and coaches...then I tend to have concerns. At this point I have no idea whether Geno is a good or bad leader..

I don't know if he is either, I'm just pointing out that I don't think his body language is always encouraging. I'm not knowledgeable enough on this kind of thing to know whether his teammates even care at all about it. I remember Leonard Williams commenting about that kind of thing among players on the sideline, but I have no clue if he was referring to Geno.

At the very least, I see him holding his head a lot more than Russ ever did. Again, he keeps winning, he'll get every benefit of the doubt.

Man, I loved Bobby. I seem to recall he was so automatic on 3rd down, always seemed to get that first down pickup. Soft hands. Great slot receiver. I don’t recall him not being “sure-handed”?

I can't find drop data from around that time, aside from mentions about who the worst offenders were (wow did Braylon Edwards ever have some stone hands), so I can't say for sure how he really rated. He certainly was generally reliable. We did have a playoff game against the Rams end with Bobby dropping a pass in the end zone on fourth down though. I believe he also had a key drop on a 3rd and 9 late in the "we want the ball" game.

Excellent hands overall; Hass sure never seemed to lose confidence in him.

I like Hass better in every aspect except the deep ball. I think Hass was much quicker reading defenses and making those quick short to intermediate throws. He doesn’t come close to He o when it comes to the deep pass though.

Geno,... Simply based on the fact Matt would get killed behind this Oline..
This. Its easy to sit back and judge Geno for the errors he has made, despite the fact that for three years he has been almost our entire offense.

And he has had the one of the worst o-lines and worst running games backing him up.

Hass?

The dude played with one of the best o-lines in league history and for sure in ours.

And he had S Alexander and Mac Strong behind him.

His best year - the year we went to the SB, looks only slightly better than Geno's 'regression' year last year. And that was with Hutch, Jones, Toebeck and crew, plus Alexander and the 7th ranked scoring defense.

Love Hass, but no way. He'd curle up and crumble to the ground.

Or he would throw a bad pick - he was only 1.4 to 1, TD to INT for his career.

The stats? I know...
I think it’s tough to compare stats from different eras though too to be fair. It’s valid to have it a part of the conversation but the game has changed even since Hass played.

Some, sure.

But a HOF line and borderline HOF running back putting up HOF numbers on the way to a SB?

Geno's first year was statistically better than Hass's arguably best year.

Are we really saying Geno couldnt go back to 2005 with that O line and that running game, to say nothing for the 7th ranked scoring defense and perform better than he has when he is literally playing with the opposite of all of that now?

I think it’s reasonable to think he would? But my issue with Geno is his decision making and it doesn’t seem to be because of pressure. I think we’re about to see if your theory is true the next few weeks. The defense is playing a million times better and the line is improving. The past two weeks hasn’t helped your argument but it’s also a tiny sample size. My prediction is the defense continues to be pretty good and the line plays better but Geno’s production will largely be the same. I hope I’m wrong though!

Also Geno’s first year seems to be an outlier. He had a monster first half of the season and then came back down to earth where he’s settled into now for years since. Foles had a similar half a year and then settled into who he was.
