I’m sitting here still digesting yesterday’s meals and a few glasses of wine and I started roaming around YouTube on the BoobTube and I’m watching Geno’s press conference from yesterday. Suddenly I find my Turkey-laced brain cells wondering if Hawks fans would prefer Matt Hasselbeck in his prime over Geno the past couple years?

Hasselbeck without a doubt. During his prime, he was very consistent. Yes he had the offensive line, but his receivers were nowhere near the receivers today. Also, he was a better leader. That’s one thing that Geno lacks, big time is leadership

Imagine Geno's body language if he had receivers who dropped the ball like Hass' did.
Was it Jackson that had to dropsies? I remember them having issues but wasn’t sure who was the biggest culprit

Today's game is different than in the time of Hasselbeck and Jackson. There are defenseless player flags thrown and yards marched off now days. Jackson and other receivers, in the time of Hasselbeck, were much more vulnerable to headhunters and on their own in keeping their head on a swivel.

They all did. Jackson's drive-killing drops marred an otherwise very underrated career. Koren Robinson had the physical gifts to be an all-timer, but had the focus of Michael Scott. Jerramy Stevens was a giant who played like a little bitch. Even Bobby Engram was a lot less sure-handed than his reputation among Seahawk fans.

Man, I loved Bobby. I seem to recall he was so automatic on 3rd down, always seemed to get that first down pickup. Soft hands. Great slot receiver. I don’t recall him not being “sure-handed”?

Hasselbeck makes better decisions due to a higher football IQ. He was a leader on the field. Things Geno hasn't proven to be or do up to this point in his career.

Hass with these receivers would be a menace. I can imagine JSN being his favorite target.

I don’t think in his entire career he’s had great or even good receivers, with the exception of maybe Bobby. He’s far slicker and able to think on his toes better than Geno.

I've don't understood how people are measuring Geno Smith's leadership ability. Yes he gets angry and yells at players on the sidelines who screw up. This was basically Tom Brady's leadership style.

You get away with a lot when you win as much as Brady did. Jeff George frequently yelled at players on the sidelines too. Something Brady was doing had his players responding to him better.

I feel like I havn't really seen Geno get into it with his teammates often at all. Any time I've criticized him for his body language it was because he was acting mopey after something bad happened.

He's currently just two games over .500 in his 46 starts for this team. The higher up he gets that, the less he'll be questioned about anything.
