If the rumors are true that the Mariners had the framework of a deal in place with the Dodgers for Kemp without giving up Paxton or Walker and then they decided up the price once more interest got in then I'm not surprised that the Dodgers ended up screwing themselves

Link to rumors please? I have heard no such rumors.

That's too bad. I feel for you. I read the information on a Mariners site that I visit. Not going to track it down for you either as the thread is damn near eighty pages.

Well thanks for being helpful, because I am on the Mariner's website and see no such rumors! Ken Rosenthal or Jon Heyman would have reported something if anything happened. Plus Z said there's nothing imminent at the moment. Thanks for nothing.

Edit: you are not specifically talking about the M's website, but I still would have heard something if something happened.

Even a link to the website would've been a reasonable response.

That article sounds just a tiny tad bit fishy to me. Why haven't I heard anything? I'm on top of every Mariners-related discussions being reported. He's the best RF on the market. I'm on twitter a lot and I would have heard something if progress was made.

You see, your post is a reason why I refused to do the leg work for you. Too predictable.

You obviously missed this one.

Dude, come on. Did I say he's not a reliable source? No, not even close. I'm just saying why isn't Greg Johns, Ryan Divish, or any other source saying the same thing(Unless I'm not looking very hard)?

That's all I'm saying. Surely there would be more attention if there really is a framework, right? That's all I'm saying.

I apologize if I said something wrong. Still, the very least you could have done was just point to the website instead of just telling me to look it up when I couldn't find anything out there. I don't know every Mariners website you know, even when I do google M's news a lot.

The guy writes for TNT. Maybe you didn't hear it from others because he scooped them? If it wasn't true, then where are the reports negating his claims?

Looks like it is time to add Dutton to your twitterverse.

so no Kemp (initial offer or no in the first place I suppose doesnt mean much at this time)

the longer Cabrera remains out there the less I like the chances he becomes an M. Thoughts on Rios and what he will cost? Is it possible to get both?

It may be possible to get both is Rios was willing to come cheap and be the 4th OF. But I don't know if he is up for that or if he is looking for a regular role. Impossible for us to know unless he comes out and says it. I would love to add him in that role though.

As a regular RF, I don't know if I'd be thrilled about it. Although I didn't pay much attention to his defense last year. Maybe he'd be a good fit based on that. Anyone watch him enough to know if he's still a good defender?

Hmm, wonder why the Cabrera talks have stalled.

Viciedo is a nice player, but he's no Cabrera. But I'd rather have either of these guys than Kemp, I hope Jack sticks to his guns on that one. I have ZERO faith that Kemp can stay healthy OR hit in Safeco.

Agree on Kemp. Sounds like the M's are out on him, though, which is good.

The thing I like about Viciedo is that he probably won't cost too much. But that also comes with a reason. He's not a good defender and really the only things to like about him are his age (25), the fact he has 3 years of team control left, and that he hits HRs.

Other than that, he's not very good. But he still has potential. Here's a glowing review: http://www.lookoutlanding.com/2014/...interested-in-dayan-viciedo-again-why-no-stop

Still hoping they get something done with Cabrera. If they are going to spend money this year, might as well not pinch pennies now. Melky is only 30 so he should be able to contribute something through a 4 or 5 year deal, unlike Cruz.

I think Jack has offered a similar deal like Cruz, at least that's what's been rumored. So Cabrera must want an extra year or more money. Not sure, hopefully it's just posturing and we'll get it done.

But if history repeats itself on these sort of negotiations, some big market team swoops in at the last minute and gives the player what he wants. Now that Lester has signed, I think things REALLY pick up now in free agency.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. The word early was that he would only sign with a team on the East Coast and he didn't want to play out West. Then he didn't have a big market for him, so he reportedly threw that out the window and was willing to sign with anyone.

But if an East Coast team comes in and offers him a decent deal, I would think he jumps at it. He might just be holding out for that.
