Make no mistake, this is how he stayed on the team.

He wants to be here so he was willing to take a cut to stay.

Great move by him. He chose to not miss out on this run instead of having an extra 300k in the bank.

I didn't know the players association allowed them to actually take less compensation.

Did they just move money around or is he actually getting less?

This. Good move on his part, just shows how much confidence the players have in each other for success.

Plus id do the same. Wouldnt wanna end up in Cleveland or Jacksonville lmao.

The details on this may be similar to Hauschka deal where he's now signed for a 2nd year. So far I've sen nothing that scribes the actual contract terms except his salary for this year is $700K with a signing bonus of $155K

Lazy math.

The reported numbers work out to a reduction of roughly $468,000.

New contract consists of a signing bonus of $155K + base salary of 700K = $855,000 total for 2013 + playoff compensation.

Farwell next?

Very smart by Maragos to accept.

When Pete recently said the "door was open" for Mike Rob to return, I got the distinct impression that they released him after he refused a pay cut.

Wants that ring.

Why not stay on a team that has the chance to do something special.

Also, I like Maragos for some reason.

John Schneider has to "earn his keep". He's no dummy, if he can get a lot of players to give up a "little" then he will get his cap room.

The salary trimming has begun in earnest.

Ultimately, the roster will consist of roughly 15 core players with pieces to fit around them. It doesn't take long to get to 15. Some fan favorites are going to say bye bye.

If people can't deal with MRob's departure, they are going to go completely off the deep end in the next couple of years.

The Ravens just went through it. It is in the future for the Seahawks as well.
