I was mainly aiming this at the post you were replying to Too often, people see a stat like this and don't really look into it as deeply as they should. I mean if we only looked at stats, Wilson would be a very mediocre qb.

Back On Topic....I don't know if Jackson is the answer. I wouldn't mind having a tall, experienced receiver in this offense. I always liked what Rice brought to the table when he was healthy, but I don't want to over pay either. We need our early draft picks to concentrate on other positions, especially Oline.

Yeah good on much but the only stats that makes Wilson look mediocre is yards and attempts, He looks really good in all the others

#5 in QB rating
#11 in complt%
#13 in tds
#2 in ints
#5 td/int raio
#14 in YPA
#1 qb ruishing

And he has played 1 less game then almost all the QBs a head of him. Also as an FYI few QBs are ahead of him in all those categories. example starting with QB rating those QBs ahead of him are Manning, Rodgers, Rivers, Romo. Of those Rodgers is the only one with less ints, of those 4 none have more rushing yards than Wilson, and only those 4 are ahead of him in other areas not counting yards and attempts. In fact Wilson is on pace to beat all of this positive stats form last year and lessen his ints significantly.

Last year RW was 63 complt%, 3357 yards, qb rating 101.2, 26tds, 9 ints, 8.25 ypa, 539 rushing yards 1 td
This year on pace for 66% complt%, 3443 yards, qb rating 101.9, 27 tds, 5 ints, 7.97 ypa, 872 rushing yards, 8 tds

And those stats would be better if not for the one bad game against Dallas. Barring another Dallas type game and if he just produces at his median level to date this year

2580 yards which would put him at 3871, complt% 68%, qb rating 104, 30 tds, 7 ints, 8.1 ypa, 727 rushing yards, 7 tds

that would put him top 10 in every category but yards and attempts.

Our Lord and Savior is under attack! Anthony! to! the! rescue!
Anthony, bro. If you want to protect Wilson, seach out a board member who goes by 'TheRealDTM.' The only posts he ever makes are to bash Wilson.... Your welcome. [emoji6]

It's weird how some people act like just because the 'Hawks are looking at acquiring a 6'5" #1 WR that means that they are definitely not looking to improve other areas of the team.

I think Pete and John have made it abundantly clear that they are always looking to see how they can upgrade the team.

I think he means the fan reaction.

Oh I know, I was just reiterating his correctness :)

I don't want to see the growth of Prich and Norwood suffer for Vjax. WR isn't our problem.

I would disagree. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty impressed with the opportunistic fire of our current corps. They're underrated. But a true #1 is just a whole nother level.
Yep.

Germaine Gresham is being shopped right now.

I think I saw it on Yahoo Sports.
That's surprising with AJ Green injured and Marvin Jones on IR. Gresham had a double-digit catch game just two weeks ago. I wouldn't be opposed to offering a 2 or 3 for him, if he's available.

Anyone have a clue about his blocking? I'm assuming it's good since he's been a target for awhile.
You would assume wrong based on the two games I watched. Twice I saw guys tackled for a loss where Jackson kind of waved them on through. He will do the standard receiver block on a CB when he is out wide, but on the few occasions he was in the slot he didn't have a lot of gumption to his blocks. Adequate at best, and no desire to really mix it up. They didn't run much to his side in the two I watched, PIT and NOR. I don't know if that is a tell or just the way a small sample size broke.

Still has his wheels, though.

Salvageable?

Thanks by the way.
He had a couple of drops I saw, and they were slants to the middle. Probably not a coincidence. He isn't a physical guy, neither was Rice tho.

He sure does create space, and he is a dream for Bevell running long developing red line routes.

I think if the price is right you have to do it. Vincent Jackson is a grown man and would provide something this offense doesn't have. Like Kearly said, when it gets down to the nitty gritty in divisional play, having a guy like Jackson could be real nice. Being completely honest with ourselves, this team has probably a bottom 5 receiving corps in the league. I love our guys, but I believe that to be true. As a fan of the Patriots as well, I have been driven nearly crazy with their lack of legitimate receiving options for the past few years. Their personnel essentially makes Brady have to play both very patient (ie take more calculated risks downfield) and nearly flawless with his accuracy. Small less explosive receivers give the quarterback much less room for error. It's nice to have at least one guy who can turn an average throw into a big gain.

The only way I'd be opposed is if someone could convince it really hamstrings us monetarily. Jackson still has game, and it would be really interesting to see what he could do with arguably the best jump ball passer in the league.

Looking at your update, VJ didn't play the take less on a contract game in San Diego. I would think him redoing his deal here would be unlikely.

Hmmm rot in Tampa Bay on a team with no qb or take less money to go to a team that you might help be the deciding factor for a repeat?

Easy choice for me.

Normally I'd agree, but I'm guessing he already got a good chuck of cash and TB is such a trainwreck, he might like a move.

I get leery when trying to bring in WR mid-season. There is always the break-in period as they have to get on page with the QB. If they are able to work it out where he is here for 2-3 years, that makes sense but I am not sure he can make much impact this year. At least that is my take.

Hate giving up draft picks but they need to bring in someone like VJack, only to keep defenses from manning up all over the field. Wilson will have to be willing to let him work though, but that is that trust thing again. Usually takes time for that to develop.

So VJax has 35 drops this year? That is terrible you are right

Targets is NOT = to Catchable passes.

I know that....it was a ridiculous comparison. Jeremy Maclin has almost identical catch to target stats - so I guess he sucks too.

My point is that his catch % is a lifelong 50% range. Our guys career averages are all around 75% and guys who don't catch at that rate don't do so for more reasons than just their QB sucks. They drop more passes. Part of that is because they don't get separation and don't always win those jumps for the ball. It's not because they all have QB's who can't hit the side of barns.

Our guys don't drop as many passes. Our guys that do go up for the ball tend to be fighters who win those jump balls. Consequently, they have a much higher catch %.

Time to shore up the trenches. I get some middle of the road Olineman. Baldwin and kearse have been spectacular. They are not getting opportunities because this is the worst line in football. A guy like VJ would prob have same result as harvin eventually.

Not being obnoxious, but how are we going to improve "the worst line in football" (I don't agree FWIW) by bringing in "middle of the road" offensive linemen?
