The thing is, if they really wanted him, they could figure out away either through contract restructures or something else. Yes they like k9, but not that much.

Definitely a possibility, all around. Honestly, in the middle of the year, I was thinking that they would very likely move on from Walker, turning to Charbs and adding other options. If he hadn’t gotten a 9-12 month injury, it would have been a much more workable situation.

There's no easy answer to this. We could pay walker 14 million and he gets hurt. We have no clue if last year was the exception or norm health wise but Charbonnet took a lot of carries. I'm assuming no matter what they sign a veteran RB whether it be as a stop gap till Charbonnet is back or to replace Walker. If they do take a flyer on a RB in the draft possibly someone like Coleman in the 3rd round. Ive heard Mike Washington Jr mentioned in the 2nd.

I honestly have no clue though. I hope someone like McIntosh recovers and pops in camp.
You’re correct. No easy answer here.

I am not personally worried about this, I'm much more concerned about re-signing Shaheed and Josh Jones. Beyond that I'm more concerned about losing more of this defense and being able to adequately replace positions before the season. Those are my first priorities.

John will have Holani, McIntosh, sign one of the many reasonably priced FA RB's, draft one and snag a couple of undrafted FA's. There will also be a pool of RB's on cutdown day in preseason and Charbs will be back mid season.
There will be 7-8+ RB's in camp to fill 3 spots.

There is only one time that RB's run harder than in their contract year and that's in open competition to win a starting spot to have a chance at a big contract in the future.
Once they get that big $ their production rarely lasts, but that also is related to age & injury.

Not worried. John's got this.

RB's career span is very short, probably the shortest in the league. Except on rare occasions they are probably good for 2 contract terms including their rookie contract so the next one.. This one for Walker has got to make him. He will probably never get a contract as lucrative as he can get right now. It just makes sense that he goes where the biggest contract is coming from.... he's won the SB, MVP everything is peachy...and I'm sure he's a wanted commodity somewhere.
K9 gets hurt too, so he should take the money and run like drew dalman

We have the benefit of having a GM who had a young, talented roster win the SB, then watch it degrade into a decrepit, nondescript one. While none of the personnel decisions are going to be 1:1 with that one, I'm sure JS is busting his ass playing out scenarios on what it's going to take to keep this one going. That being said, I'm not sure there's too much difference between 4 years/$40 million and 4 years/$52 million. But I'm sure he's doing the math on it.
Makes me wonder, how many GMs have won the Super Bowl with more than one coach?

14 million is still a lot for a RB and im guessing they want JSN taken care of this year and have to sign a pass rusher if Mafe goes and Lawrence retires. There is also a good chance Nwosu is cut and they try to get him back to lower the 30m cap hit but he could also walk.

Apart from Lynch and Carson the GM hasn't really paid RB's and generally grabs them in day 2. Carson made pennies for almost 4 years being a 7th rounder and got rewarded. A pretty damn under rated player.

I'm assuming they either feel confident enough that there is a RB in the draft they like to move on from Walker or they know someone like Tyler Allgeier will come to them. The fact a few in the media are talking about him going to seattle makes me think there is some truth to that.
Being the King is good. I hope that rumor is true.

I'm pretty sure the Hawks like Walker lots but just not at anything over $10 mil/yr.. Even then he's been somewhat fragile at times and has not always been available. Certainly it is without question he came into his own after he became THE GUY after Chabonnet was hurt, before then his dancing style was at times unproductive for the team. He's not worth as much as he thinks but maybe someone will pay him and he'll return the team a comp pick with some luck. Maybe he'll stay if the numbers don't come to him as he hopes.

I'm more interested in having the team keep Shaheed on O than Walker as RBs are a more available commodity than exceptionally fast and elusive WR/KRs. Even there the $ will have to be right.

I would like Walker back. He's been a favorite of mine even during the rough patches. I do think the Hawks really like Holani. One guy that had a very good preseason last year I think the team is very high on is Jacardia Wright.

We have several interesting guys hovering in the wings here. Holani hasn't had a lot of chances to prove himself. Wright is an interesting guy from the Ready Squad and McIntosh might be ready to step up.

Maybe JS does know what he's doing. ;)

I'd still like K9 back if they could swing it, but understand the finacial reasons he probably won't be.

This has probably already been said but the problem is its not just K9 in a vacuum. lets say its 12-14 million, that could prevent them from signing Crosby or someone like that for example and they don't want to miss out on that. It would be cool if we could all see the total plan and I bet it would make a ton of sense.

Are you a season ticket holder? Its getting very expensive
It was a two-part joke.

In all seriousness, I'm good with it this year, as the home schedule is awesome, but the threats last season, and especially the email telling me to take two extra playoff tickets off their reselling site, didn't give me the warm and fuzzies about the guys running things (I'm a carrot guy, rather than stick). But...if I get an earlier window this season for changing seats (their first carrot), AND there is a reduction in professional resellers (yet another imaginary carrot), then I'll re-evaluate. Trying to stay positive, but I don't believe either will occur.

Very true. I don't believe any of you really believe this, but many are stating that each player we have discussed should get as much as they can get paid, destination team seeming to be irrelevant. Fortunately all of our players aren't taking our forum members' advice. The NFL just doesn't work that way - it isn't a league of nothing but mercenaries.

This is the NFL. If a guy wants to that bag, more power to him. FREE agency. So, they are FREE to make their own choice.
We don't live in a world where every player should take less to stay here. It's not reality. This team just won the SB. This team is going to lose plenty of players. It's how it works.

Choices. Choose to keep your seats or choose to give them up. There are plenty of people would love to be STH's. It's not cheap at all. If you have the means, go for it. If you don't, then you don't. I'm glad they called people out for selling for the sole purpose of making money. We saw two playoff games with a MASSIVE MAJORITY of the crowd in Hawks gear. Maybe it just worked? Is it so hard to just sell direct to a friend or family member? Do you HAVE to sell 3rd party? No

Yeah, I get it - you and I really don't agree on much. That's fine, but it doesn't have to always be a battle.

K9 did everything he needed to do to deserve his payday...but the payday he deserves is not one the Seahawks should spend if they want to remain competitive over the next 3-5 years (and not just the next 1-2 years). If this rumor is true, I support it. You are paid for what you potentially bring to the team vs what you take away (with your salary), not what you contributed.

Remember how people did not want to let DK go...because the Seahawks would not have someone to replace him. Same deal...maybe there wasn't a 1:1 replacement, but you add in other areas by not paying. This one is a bit more difficult though because DK was also a head case and K9 is not...at least doesn't appear so.

McIntosh is a blend of both backs, Holani is a weapon in the pass game and is very shifty, then 26 comes back early in the year with fresh legs for the playoff push.

Yup I'm not too worried either, hope we go OL with our first pick or trade back, but hope we do draft a RB, looks like lots of developmental/top heavy, but I like the Penn State kid Nicholson. We also have a very athletic TE coming back that can play from h-back position.
