There are only 32 of these jobs available. Who knows if another offer exists next year? You have to take the chance when it comes. I've got zero bad feelings towards him on this.

Not to mention, one bad Darnold step into the turf early next year, and suddenly he might not be the hot coaching candidate going into the next cycle.

I don't know that such prospects really exist. The closest example I can think of of a great coordinator who probably could have gotten a HC gig but didn't want to is Monte Kiffin.

Seems like all the best coordinators are either young up and comers with aspirations of climbing to the top of the ranks with their own team, or older guys like Wade Phillips or Dick LeBeau, who failed badly as HCs and aren't considered serious candidates for future jobs.

Maybe we could find one of those older guys who want to settle into this as their last job, but even they're a retirement risk.
I agree. I think the amount of money involved makes it too irresistable to turn down a head coaching job.

I wonder if Monte Kiffin would have felt differently if he were coaching today when head coaches are getting $10-20 million per year? Back when Monte was with the Bucs, he was paid MORE than some head coaches. There were NFL head coaches back in 2000, who were making $800,000 per year. Mike Holmgren was the highest paid HC, and he made $4 million. Monte Kiffin was paid $2 million to be DC, so he didn't see the need to take a head coaching job.

So he's not going to be at the Parade?

Why would flying to LV, 2 days before the parade, preclude him from attending the parade? Even when I have to fly commercial, I can usually take meetings in one city and get back to work at home the same day. If I can take a corporate jet, even better.

Kubiak made a bad decision. Raiders are a dumpster fire of an organization. He thinks he can repeat there with what he did here. Maybe he does, but I doubt it. I wanna see him succeed but the reality is he'll be fired within 2 years. Kubiak isn't HC material just like that OC on the Pats.

This will be our 5th or 6th OC in as many years?!!

Defense wins championships is what I hear. Get that sh*t set, and we could become an OC factory.

And that is the end of that.

No more whining and bitching by the Peanut Gallery.

Good luck to Kubiak and also a big thanks to his efforts this season.
