Some of these contracts are astonishing. So much money man haha

Anyway, fantastic news. Witherspoon likely next. This is why K9, Cobe, etc are all gone. Lock up the core now while they have some serious cap flexibility and keep crushing it in the draft, only way to maintain consistency in the NFL now.

I thought he was trade bait. JS doesn't know what he's doing! </sarcasm>
No, No, don't you see? Now we have him locked into a contract so other teams can see exactly what they are getting, and we can negotiate how much of the cap hit we will be willing to eat, just to unload him!

It's through 2032, but they can spread the cap hit over the next 6 seasons. It will be interesting to see the details on the whole contract, and is likely similar to what we will see done with Spoon, though we don't need to be in as big a rush to sign him.
The Schefter report states it's through the 2031 season.

The extension is for four years (2028 - 2031)... since he's already under contract for the next two (2026 and 2027).

I’m ecstatic that we locked him up. Hawk for life.

I also like that the Rams have to be sweating bullets…Puka is going to want as much, if not more.

Boss move by JS. Spoon is next.

LFG!

Meanwhile, the Rams and Puka Nacua are still negotiating. And since Nacua wasn't a first round pick, they don't have a 5th year option on him.

It was always going to be that the second team to sign their star WR would have to pay more. Not sure why the Rams hesitated.

This is as safe an extension as they come. JSN is only 24 and he's already the most technically-sound wideout the league has seen in some time. I'll bet his game ages fantastically. Larry Fitzgerald is who comes to mind for me in what I see.

2031 season ends in 2032. In other words, he becomes a free agent in 2032.

We are both saying the same thing, but I can see where it could be confusing.

I was thinking of other teams going "oh crap" with this number. Not just the rams an Puka. The Cowboys and Pickens will now get interesting even though he's been tagged. Also any other of top guys who's contract comes up the next year or two.

This must be fake news. I heard that the purse strings were sewn shut to prep for the upcoming sale of the team! Now I don't know how we'll keep Bobo. You can't have the TWO highest paid receivers on the same team, the cap just won't handle it.

Seriously though, I'm all in on the "sign JSN before Nacua signs, and let the Rams pay even more" bandwagon. and I'm happy to have JSN on the team for the long haul.
