I'm pretty sure Sam already cashed that $15 mill roster bonus for 2026 back in February. If the team was gonna cut him, they surely would have done it before they paid that.

Nobody was saying he'd be cut. If it was a 2-year $65M contract with $5M above the Mean in the 1st season and $5M below in the 2nd, well then fair enough. My understanding was that effectively a 1-year try-out which would likely lead to Darnold being cut late in year 1 or renegotiated with before year 2.

I've misinterpreted things before and i'm sure i'll get some things wrong in the future. I expect Darnold to agree a new contract before Week 1 of the regular season. If i'm wrong then i'm wrong. No biggie.

Who's more accurate? These guys or over the cap? The numbers were slightly different but not much. If Sam has another good year an establishes himself as our guy going forward, I can see a re-worked deal with more guarantees but lowering his hit for when Nick E and Zabel get closer to extensions.

Both sites are good and normally they come up with the same information. Sometimes 1 or other site fails to update numbers due to incentives hitting or what-not, but it's not the norm. I prefer Spotrac which tends to post contract detail information below the contract whereas overthecap tends to offer interpretation rather than raw data. I wouldn't pass judgement on 'more accurate' or 'better'.

There is nothing negative about this move at all, but wanted to ask if anyone feels like I do. I've got a JSN jersey since Dec, so happy he's with us long term, think he's a great player, and a great person from his interviews and comments from JS and MM.
Yet rather than being in 100%, there's that 1% reservation for me cause 10 years ago at this time, I was all in on Wilson too.

Common sense tells me it's not going to happen again, first sign being this negotiation seemed a lot easier that any of Russ's but just that emotional thing of not wanting to get burned again.
