No, No, don't you see? Now we have him locked into a contract so other teams can see exactly what they are getting, and we can negotiate how much of the cap hit we will be willing to eat, just to unload him!I thought he was trade bait. JS doesn't know what he's doing! </sarcasm>
The Schefter report states it's through the 2031 season. It's through 2032, but they can spread the cap hit over the next 6 seasons. It will be interesting to see the details on the whole contract, and is likely similar to what we will see done with Spoon, though we don't need to be in as big a rush to sign him.
This takes away some of his leverage since we have the option to tag him now (we could have anyway, but now there's no debate on who to use it on), but I don't suspect it'll come to that.Wonder how far out Spoon's extension is
Because Puka is a lunatic who's probably holding them hostage. It was always going to be that the second team to sign their star WR would have to pay more. Not sure why the Rams hesitated.
2031 season ends in 2032. In other words, he becomes a free agent in 2032.The Schefter report states it's through the 2031 season.
The extension is for four years (2028 - 2031)... since he's already under contract for the next two (2026 and 2027).
Beautiful move by JS. JS pivots like JSNWow that was quick.
With the new media deals coming in the next few years, this contract will be considered cheap in about 2 years.
