What’s this celebration JSN and many other receivers around the league are doing where they cover their face with one hand and extend their other arm outward and wave?

I noticed it a little last year but it’s gained momentum this season. Anyone know the meaning behind it?

AI has some value to it after all. Solves important questions, like this one!

AI Overview

The hand-on-face, waving celebration is commonly known as the "Zombie Land" celebration, popularized by former Washington State and current Miami quarterback Cam Ward. It originated with a different player at Western Kentucky and evolved to include a wave, with the gesture often interpreted as an insult to the opponent (suggesting they "smell like zombies" or are "sit-down" players). It gained significant attention and is now performed by players in both college and the NFL.

Origin:
The celebration started at Western Kentucky University and was initially called "Zombie Land".

Evolution:
It became a signature move for Cam Ward and was popularized by him.

Meaning:
While initially a playful gesture among teammates, the meaning evolved to suggest that opponents are not good enough ("sit down" or "stink like zombies").

Performers:
The celebration has since been adopted by numerous players in both college and the NFL, including Amon-Ra St. Brown and Drake London.

I'm with the get off my lawn crowd. What a stupid celebration. I never did get the zombie fad either

Zombie-land? Cool.

What I want to know is WHY would you spin the ball at the feet of an opposing player and get flagged for it?

Unless that TD celebration was actually code for "I'm going to spin the ball at your feet next. Buckle up, Buttercup!"
