If I remember correctly genral concensus was we overpaid for Adams. probably signifcantly.

My thought at the time was it was a huge gamble of an attempt to make one final shot for the SB before the window closes, with the expectation Pete would retire after that leaving the job of rebuilding the team with no 1st round picks to his successor.
