I watched it over and over always looking at the feet until I seen his head. Watch and you will see the shoulder dip into him. I believe Harbaugh is right next to him on the sideline and see it as well. I believe that is crybaugh with the clip board.

So I just watched this a few times. They were talking about it on NFL Insiders. That was really bad. That guy should be fined as much as possible.

Watched the replay. My personal opinion...... J Lane simply stepped on the plastic 1st Down marker that was in front of the 49er sideliner, his foot slid off and and he lost his footing. Just happened to be timed to look like the 49er sideliner was involved, who I think really may of just been trying to get out of the way. Judging from the way Lane fell and got up again, Lane himself did not even seem to think anything untoward had happened. If he had felt that he had actually been tripped up by the 49er sideliner, I am sure he may of protested after the play.

Are you sure you watched the right play because I didn't see any of that? As far as Lane not thinking anything untoward had happened, remember he is a gunner on the punt team and has to have tunnel vision to get back to the field and possibly make a play. He isn't going to stop doing his job on the play and react.

My only reason for thinking it was something on the ground is the speed which Lane came up with.

If he truly was hit on the head he would have been pissed and he would probably have been down. He came full speed. Now pushed is a different thing so hard to say.

Would be interesting to hear from Lane. Wouldn't expect him to lie

That hit was cheap and dirty.

I hope they identify who that was and either fine the heck out of him or the team. That was so blatant that something better be done.

Edit: Look just to the left of the guy with the red sleeves. You see the guy in black launch his shoulder into Lane.

Reminds me of this.

Hefty fines and suspensions IIRC

Wow Nelly!

Look at the weight of the SF guy - it goes up (as if he's trying to spring out of the way). Human nature is to shift weight down when bracing for a hit.

Lane's head springs back, but he was off balance and leading with his head at this point.

It's hard to say from the GIF, but I don't know that this was intentional.

Not the same as Tomlin, as the big story about Tomlin was Tomlin was on the field whereas this S&C coach (that's not Dial, who is much bigger and fatter) was 5 yards off the field where he's supposed to be. Hard to tell if it's intentional or not, but def the type of thing that should be watched in real time rather than a slowed down gif which makes split second reactions appear to have intent (e.g. slowed down in replay it looked like Maragos was intentionally trying to get at Lee's plant ankle, although at full speed that's OBVIOUSLY not true).

Dunno, but I'm also one of the few people who would put money on Tomlin's thing not being intentional. If there's some way to clearly show this was intentional though (another angle, a something), the guy should be fired and the team should be fined.

Not only does Dial move forward throwing his shoulder into Lane he does it with enough force that you can see Dial's head rise. Harbaugh watches the whole thing as Lane falls to the turf in the field of play. He makes no move towards Dial which makes it look like he approves.

The guy looks like he moves his shoulder forward, intentionally. I would like to read what happened from Lane.

I actually have zero problem with the hit in the video. Play was live, looked like an int return. QB thought he was a spectator. Nope. Thump.

Keep your head on a swivel boys...

Slowed it down and blew it up a little. Dude sees Lane coming the whole way, braces, and deliberately jumps into him. If you look carefully you can see his right foot take a step forward to line him up.

The blown up and slowed down gif clearly shows it was deliberate.

Why would he step into Lane? In most cases when someone is coming at you, you step aside...not this asshole.

Fine him.

The clip being shown on NFLN shows Harbaugh grimace and immediately look up to see if it was seen by a ref.

There's no way that an NFL player, running full speed with pads on doesn't blow that guy up (I don't care how big he is) if that guy's not bracing for impact or hitting back. If he knew he was coming, he should have gotten out of the way. If he didn't know he was coming, he'd have been run over. It was clearly intentional.
