That's just flat out wrong. The guys on the field have a very short window and have committed their entire lives to this. Taking away even one year is taking away 20% of a career in most cases from someone that's worked 20 years to get to the NFL field. The mental and physical challenges along the way could never be understood by us.
If all of that was disregarded and sabotaged I'd hope the players would have some kind of recourse.
Fans would definitely have a reason for recourse here, but harder to argue players do. They are hired for an agreed-upon wage to do a job. If management brings in players to tank the team instead of to win, how is this reason for recourse for the players? Their recourse is to play better. Fans have little-to-no ability to affect game play; players directly impact the game by how they play.
