i just love how nobody on dot net knows anything and doesn’t have any insight on who Seattle will draft and the Seahawks aren’t tipping any hand to anyone in the league and whatever happens at pick 5 will cause this board to erupt!

I can’t wait!

I love draft week!

Let’s gooooooooo!!!!!!!

And where exactly is Staton supposed to be getting this information? I have yet to see that anything he predicts has come true.
He's actually been pretty dialed in with Seahawks stuff over the years but it also matches what everyone around the league is saying too so my guess is a lot of it is right. Bob McGinn, Florio and others are saying the same thing.

That's part of the fun of being a fan though is having an opinion and trying to guess right. None of us know anything and if we guess right we can rub it in and if we guess wrong we will ignore it lol

Not to belabor this point, but when the word "source" is mentioned regarding the Seahawks draft plan it really matters which type of source they are.

1) Source from inside of VMAC with actual knowledge of our draft board or specific prospect evaluations
2) Other - the same public information that any of us currently has

Pretty much everybody posting publicly about the Seahawks is in that secondary category right now, whether they work for a major network, have their own blog, or are just a random fan who had a 20 second chat with a co-worker about whether the Hawks might take Bijan. Saying you have a source may come across in hundreds of different ways, but at the end of the day it's just a way of padding out your opinion with an appeal to authority.

That's part of the fun of being a fan though is having an opinion and trying to guess right. None of us know anything and if we guess right we can rub it in and if we guess wrong we will ignore it lol
I completely agree with this, but that's why I'm mildly annoyed when the public commentators you cite can't just back their own opinions honestly. "I've been hearing from sources that the Seahawks..." is either fabricated if they are claiming to have a team source, or meaningless if they are claiming an "other" source. The people you mention love to refer to sources instead of justifying their own opinions and so they are a negative addition to the discussion in my view.

It’s a statistical fact, plain and simple.

Sure it makes sense to reference a source the first time it’s pointed out, but it fairly quickly becomes common knowledge.

Should we source Young’s weigh-in every time we discuss whether he can physically hold up to NFL abuse?

Snap count is relevant to Carter’s evaluation from both pro & con. On one hand it‘s an explanation for his limited production. On the other, it’s concerning that he still coasts between the elite flashes and has looked exhausted.
It’s probably Ray Ray the homeless guy who hangs out in front of the liquor store near Pioneer Square

The spinning wheel that is mediot driven makes it appear pick #5 may have no chance at either Anderson or Carter.
To me the most disappointing waste of #5 would be picking a QB.
There is an article in The Athletic that the Seahawks must trade out of #5, because they don’t have the cap space to pay the rookie contract. That seems unbelievable, but the math will be a big problem.

That doesn't have the persuasive effect you seem to think it has.

I'm not trying to pursuade you of anything. I just know he's fairly connected and seems to get a lot of stuff right. Maybe you're biased because you want Carter? I have no clue who they draft but other than a couple of outliers most are saying Seattle is out on Carter at 5. It could easily all be a part of their plan and they sprint to the podium to draft him, I guess we will see.

Todd McShay in the Seahawks section: “Multiple sources have told me Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter isn’t expected to be the pick.”
The clever use of the passive voice effectively distances each opinion by at least two steps from McShay, and at least three steps from anyone reading McShay's twit. It would be marginally more impressive if McShay had claimed several sources told him directly that they don't expect the Seahawks to draft Carter, and here's why.

You seem to dispute every Carter claim. Why are you so sure they do want him? This isn't snarky I'm just apparently missing something and curious. Again not trying to be snarky

I am biased, and I do want Carter. But this is just a bunch of names throwing a bunch of stuff at the wall to see what sticks. They don't know anything more than you or I do.

I'm with you, though, we shall certainly see.

Fair to you, I will assume no snarkiness.

At this point, my objections to what most negative stuff people have posted about Carter fall under two categories. Appeals to authority (or sources) regarding the Seahawks intentions that can't really be known, and declarative statements about Carter's character that are surmised and/or assumed. I don't pretend to know what the Seahawks are going to do, and I have little tolerance for those who presume to know (like Florio, Staton, or McShay's "sources.")

I don't know for sure that the Seahawks want him. I am confident they want a difference maker on defense with their first pick in the draft. Whether that's Carter or not remains to be seen.

Fair enough. For me they were reportedly out on Kayvon Thib last year because of his red flags and Carter's are vastly more serious. Again that is speculation like you mentioned. For the record I could be confirming priors because I don't want a guy who has the issues he has(not car wreck related). I want someone at 5 who loves football. They made that a priority last year and it paid off so that's why I lean QB, Wilson, Anderson, Witherspoon and I personally will be a little bummed if it's Carter. But I will root like hell for the kid to prove his doubters wrong, myself included if he is the pick.

We're all going to be frozen while the clock ticks during our pick only to see q massive trade down so none of us can float on Friday lol

I want To see us draft a qb at 5. Or at least in the first round.

I'll go out on a limb here and say there will be no trade back from #5. You all can roast me later if there's a trade.

For the record, I don't mind the idea of drafting a QB. I just don't want it to happen in the 1st round, or even in the 2nd round.
