The LOB had several dumb penalties. Come on man. Sure, they made up for them, but dumb penalties happened all the time. My point is that it's interesting how they always get a pass, but DK is somehow the Anti-Christ for not taking sh** from anyone.

When DK isn't acting like an immature, petulant, selfish jackass costing us 15 yards at a time, he's an incredible player to have on your team.
This sounds like me in the basement on Sundays and my beer league team.

There's also the star power to factor in. It probably triggers some locker room envy but it draws likes/clicks/jersey and ticket sales which is probably good for the franchise.

The LOB was heavily penalized for defensive holding, pass interference and unnecessary roughness. I would consider all of those to be penalties of aggression - they happen during the play and they were notorious for 'feeling out' an officiating crew to see how far they could push the limits.

DK has had 11 unsportsmanlike or taunting penalties and been kicked out of games twice in 5 years. Also throw in 2 unnecessary roughness penalties, which for an offensive player they're most likely losing his temper and not something like Kam hitting someone legally and the refs not liking it.

In contrast, Sherman had 4 unsportsmanlike/taunting in 7 years.
Kam had ZERO in 7 years.
Earl had 3 in 9 years.
Browner had 2 in his 3 years here.

In total, the LOB members above had two LESS taunting or unsportsmanlike conduct penalties in 26 years of playtime than DK has had in 5.

Come on man. :p

We pick on DK because he is falling for the manipulation that other teams are doing to him. Messing with his head is literally part of the game plan.

Nah, he has cut WAYYYYY back on that stuff. People would rather just dwell on the past instead of supporting the guy. It's just funny, to ME.
Again, he can't win with some, and that's fine. I'm good with DK the way he is. He cares. We don't need choir boys on this team.

Nope. He hasn't. If you look at the numbers (and I did...) you'll find that 2022 and 2023 were his highest numbers for this type of penalty. (to be fair, we're talking about being up to 3 of these a year. It's not like he's doing it every game.) It's probably getting worse because DBs know he's susceptible to their digs.

Whatever you say. DK is Satan. Better? Funny that people get so butthurt over the guy. Proud that he's a Hawk. Guys like Michael Bennett did stupid crap on a regular basis.
I actually enjoy how worked up people get. It's really entertaining.

I'm not even a little butthurt over him. He's an amazingly gifted receiver, with (I believe) the potential to be one of the best in the NFL. I believe he needs a smidgen more discipline to accomplish it, and his penalties are an indicator that he's still needing to mature.

I'm thrilled he's a Seahawk and I think JS would be crazy to trade him. I want him to be his best because he'll make the Seahawks better if he is.

Fair enough. Guys who play with passion like he does are gonna' get penalties from time to time. I just am of the opinion that it's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be.
This…while I don’t condone everything penalty wise, it can/does come with the territory sometimes.

I love our linebacker slamming WR and hope he plays his entire career here.

I wanted them to trade DK, not because I don't like him, but because I wanted to see how great he could be on a different team. I think he's mainly gone to waste in Seattle.

I wonder what he'd be like playing for Buffalo, Cincinnati, Detroit or KC?

Just wanted to circle back and acknowledge the great job wide receiver coach SanJay Lal did in developing the precise route running of DK Metcalf and other receivers. I also have no doubt that SanJay was instrumental in drafting Jaxon Smith-Njigba well as getting Bobo on board and on the field in their first year.

Jim Harbauch and the Chargers are already benefiting from the addition of SanJay.
The Los Angeles Chargers are gearing up for a comeback after a tough 2023 season, and a key part of that effort is the addition of new wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal. Lal, who has been involved with the team since the offseason, brings a strong focus on technique and player development.

SanJay press conference 👉 https://www.chargers.com/video/sanjay-lal-press-conference-otas-2024 👈 SanJay is one of the very best at answering press conference questions about coaching wide receivers.
