I honestly believe the Mariners have an edge against the Astros this year. Even with the Astros batters are healthy, Altuve and Alvarez their pitching is washed

The starting rotation is developing into one of the best (if not the best) we've ever had, but, without the 2014 bullpen or the late 90s offense, it's all a bit discouraging.

This team still feels a lot like last years team. The offense is probably about equal. The starting pitching is definitely improved. But the pen could be an issue. Last season against Toronto and Houston SS really only trusted Munoz, Brash and a struggling Sewald. We really only have two high leverage arms in the pen, Munoz and Brash. Sauce is nice, but when the season is on the line, will SS trust him? This team needs one more big arm in the pen.

But who knows, anything can happen in the playoffs..

We obviously are missing a back, the end of the back one inning pitcher.

Is this the year... that could be a lot like the last 2 years? Sure. Could be.

Is this the year... they go all the way? I very much doubt it.

Couple of really good teams in front of us.. figure it will be much like last year, hopefully we don't have the Orioles in the first round

If this were 1968, back when starting pitching won the day, we'd be the favorites to win it all. Heck, back then all you needed was two dominant starters to have a chance. The '68 Tigers had a shortstop Ray Oyler, who batted .135 and had to eventually be replaced by their centerfielder after going "0 for August".

Fox Sports has the Mariners at #5 in MLB power rankings, the #3 team in the AL behind the Orioles and Rangers. Meanwhile, the Rangers have lost a bunch of games . . . It's getting real.

If I watch them, they'll **** it up. If I don't watch them, I might miss out.

Yesterday I watched them play for the first time since before the all star break, and had not personally witnessed them play al that well. As soon as I turn the game on, it's the start of the (third?) inning where Saucedo melts down, allows several runs, and leave two runners on the bases before he got benched.

For whatever reason they don't play well when I watch. It's just science.
