Is Seattle becoming a destination spot again?

Back in the 2013, 2014 and 2015 offseasons free agents saw what we were building here and they wanted to come play here. The players, the dominance, scheme and culture had players taking less to come here to be a part of what we were building. Cliff Avril, Michael Bennett, etc.

The last years haven’t been quite as fruitful. A little but not like it was.

Now with the report of Pittsburgh offering the Saints the same package as us for Rashid Shaheed but he was adamant about coming to Seattle. Are we starting to become a place players want to come be a part of this? This may be more of a question for the offseason but I think it’s just the beginning. Exciting times with half a season to go. You can feel the change from what we’ve had the past decade again.

I think the fact that Kubiak (who coached him before) being here doesn't hurt either.

I believe so, but I also think that this was a unique situation. A WR playing for a new contract going to an unfamiliar team could take 4+ weeks to show consistently. Shaheed selected the team that has the OC from NO last year and was putting up big numbers.

Yep. I think Shaheed knows that with the same scheme (basically), he can hit the ground running as soon as Tomorrow with the Seahawks and put up some big numbers.

Hopefully, I mean it feels like the magic is coming back to seattle, and this team is developing the same type of brotherhood that the LOB Hawks had, this seahawks team is full of dawgs the same as the LOB, The next man up mentality is becoming evident so far with this team...

Oh, I agree with you. The Steelers seem to be pretty aimless, haven't found a QB since Worthlessburger retired, haven't made it past the first round of the playoffs since the 2016 season, unwilling to change head coaches and do a full reset, etc. If I were a player, they wouldn't be at the top of my list.

I was responding to a post that didn't give an indication of a particular coach, player, or ownership, just the city in general.

Franchises full of history such as Pitt, GB…hell, even Dallas are still highly desired places to play from a players perspective. I said players…not my perspective.

I think for Shaheeds case, @BDD222 is right. But, it can’t be denied that MM is developing one helluva locker room. From when he first came in…putting his own personal touches on the organization and in the process, raising questions. Example…the b-ball goal that was up.

Leonard Williams has alluded to it…they’re a family. A family that’s required to do their damn job…a family where your teammate has your back.

I can’t see any player NOT wanting to be a part of what MM is putting together. They’re making that magic come back while putting a mark on Seahawks brand of football….that’s beginning to permeate across the league.

Shaheed would be a weird fit in Pittsburgh because his game is so similar to Metcalf’s. Pittsburgh needs a legit #2 though (or a legit #1 if we’re being honest), and Shaheed had more yards than Metcalf.

I think Shaheed is going to give us the dynamic we were hoping to get from DK at MVS prices.

Probably a topic for later this season, but my guess is that Kubiak will look at what jobs are open and what their QB situation is like before he commits to a team. If he goes into a bad situation and fails, he might not get another HC opportunity, so it would be wise not to jump in bed with the first team to make him an offer.

He wants a head coaching job. Most assistant coaches do. Even if the Hawks win the SB, if the right team's HC job opens up, Kubiak would be a fool not to take it.
