I just cannot see them making a long term commitment to our 2nd best corner after doing the same to our 2nd best safety. I trust this front office emphatically but no one would argue that Sherm and Thomas are the more important signings. To resign all four is a HUGE investment in our secondary--expensive!
Browner is going to walk IMO because he is older and deserves to get paid, big time. And if we make the highest offer I will be shocked.
What are you considering 'getting paid big time'? He is a solid #2 in a very specific scheme. I don't doubt there will be some interest, but don't think he will come anywhere close to "big time" money. If someone pays him big money to be a #1 CB, that team is in trubs.
Average corners get big time contracts in free agency. Here's the top ten cornerback contracts last year . . .
1. Nnamdi Asomugha, Eagles – $11,000,000
2. Champ Bailey, Broncos – $8,000,000
3. Jonathan Joseph, Texans – 7,250,000
4. Corey Webster, Giants – $6,500,000
5. DeAngelo Hall, Redskins – $6,000,000
6. Brandon Flowers, Chiefs - $5,750,000
7. Cortland Finnegan, Rams - $5,000,000
8. Dunta Robinson, Falcons - $5,000,000
9. Darrelle Revis, Jets - $4,500,000
10. Joe Haden, Browns - $4,324,129
There's some good players there, but there's quite a few that fall below Browner in terms of talent and production.
