He's not putting up ungodly stats, but he's doing what he needs to. Maybe the leash is on him still, maybe he's still getting that chemistry with everyone, not sure. I think he comes alive the further into this season we get, and that's exciting.
I think the leash was on him a bit too tight at times in this game.

I mean think about it : Prior to Meyers missed FG, he had that absolute DIME on JSN and it looked like he was in rhythm.

WHY NOT CONTINUE WITH THAT AND TRY ANOTHER PASS?

Too much conservative playcalling almost cost us the game.

Well if he keeps it up, we can keep Milroe on the bench to learn for more than 1 year. He needs it. Hopefully Sam will get even better as time goes on. This is looking like it can only go up from here.
More than 1 year?

If he continues at this trajectory, Hawks may end up converting Milroe into a running back. 😁

Not sure what he has done to earn the game manager title... I get most people dont have time or dont like to watch film but this dude has top five arm strength and throws an extremely catchable ball. With one of most consistantly tight spirals, perhaps only rivaled by Stafford. He fearlessly throws deep balls and threads needles and takes chances that game managers would never take. To me a game manager is more like an Alex Smith or Trent Dilfer type, C+ armstength with timing, and awareness. With under a minute to go in a tie game, game managers are typically leashed, unlike Sam who went out and won it for us.
I've never thought of the term "game manager" as an insult to a quarterback's ability. To me, it means that he's not going to go out and try to win the game on his own by throwing deep on every down. It means that he's going to take what the defense gives him, doesn't force passes, concentrates on moving the sticks rather than run up his passing numbers.

I like what I've seen so far from Darnold. Especially given how the O-line is still not fixed. Those runs by the RBs against the Cardinals were mainly all Walker and Charbonnet. The line did not open any holes at all. It looked a lot like last year, with the line being pushed backwards.
So basically the line resembled Minnesota's last year without Darrisaw.

I've said ad nauseum that Sam made that OL look far better than it had any reason to be.

Looks like Sam is doing the same here though I have higher hopes for this line than that bunch in VIkings land.

Hope you know by now that he was looking at Fitzpatrick when he was saying that.
To be honest, I didn't know who said it first, I thought it was the Gal..(do you know her name?) I thought it pretty weird at that moment, good to know it was fitz

There were numerous plays last night by Darnold that WITHOUT QUESTION would have been sacks or intentional grounding calls by Genoooooooo. Even the Geno humpers keasley knows this is accurate.
FIFY. Tee hee!

You know what, Hag?

That's fair.

Though to be quite honest, he played far better in that Playoff game than in the Lions game.

Yes, I know it's a low bar but in the Lions game it looked like his brain shut down on LIVE TV.

In the playoffs, he was slightly all there but his OL wasn't doing him any favors getting steamrolled AND his head coach wasn't doing him any favors in having him continue to sit back there waiting for Jefferson to get open.

That Viking-Ram playoff game is SO overblown when it comes to Darnold. The Rams were peaking at the time and took the Eagles to the brink. I mean why didn't the genius Kevin O'Connell make some in-game adjustments to help against that pass rush? Darnold ended up 25/40 for 245 yards/1 TD/1 INT against the Rams. Hurts was 15/20 for 128 yards against the Rams the following week. The national media is acting like it was Herbert's 4-INT playoff game against the Texans.

Why some folks are focused upon negativity over a divisional road W against a team widely thought to be on the upswing is beyond me? It was a W folks, a road W against a divisional rival and an important W.

We are long way away from the playoffs but if Sam keeps playing like he did (has) so far this year we will be happy. Statistically he's got great numbers and seems to keep his head when Gee-No would have whigged out. I think Sam's playing pretty darn well. We shall see if he can keep it up but as he gains confidence in the rest of the O beyond JSN he could finally begin to fully reveal the reasons why he was a 1st rd draft pick.

Yup. Complaining about a WIN this much is strange AF.

Those were his numbers in that game?

honestly I didn’t watch the game. Why has he been crucified over it?

Dude is clutch. And listening to him talk he's humble, level headed and got a great head on his shoulder.

Sam is THE GUY. Im fully sold on him. And I was a huge Geno stan. But Darnold is IT.

He's only 28. Hyped for this guy as my QB
Sam Darnold seems hot. But the defense is shining just as much! I'm excited for each game! Go Hawks!

Have you ever had a 300lbs man jump on you while holding a ball?.. I would imagine it's pretty hard to not drop a ball every now and then..😂
Yah but, have you ever had 300 pound women jump off the top rack while you have on an S&M mask with the ball in your mouth and your lathered up in cooking grease?

Yah…see. That’s what I thought!

😉
