I'm SOLD on Sam Darnold

28 seconds to get a score. Wow. There are some really negative plays in this offense that worry me. Coach wanted to step on the gas and put the cards away. Maybe it will be that good. We really score on opening drives. That's great. The final drive reminded me of Tom Brady. Prepared and confident.

The one play that impressed me - was when there was nothing there and he threw it in the dirt over the line (I think at K9's feet). I posted in gameday that Russ or GeNO would have freaked out and tried to stretch and thrown a pick. He didn't do that. Just scrubbed the play and went on to the next.

He's our guy.

I think I heard one of the announcers mention that earlier in Darnold's career, he tended to try to make a big throw every time, even if it wasn't available. But he's developed and learned playing hero ball isn't a recipe for success. The Vikings and now the Hawks are reaping the rewards of his growth as a pro QB.

When McCarthy played, he had only 1 quarter where he even resembled an NFL QB. The other quarters he stunk AND he got hurt again.

So not only is JJ McHandoff not good but he seems to be JJ McInjuryProne as well.

Vikings are going to regret (hell they ARE regretting) letting Darnold leave and we are reaping the benefits of their stupidity right now.

McCarthy is only good when Jim Harbaugh coaches him. Kinda how Krappershit was. JJ would thrive on the Chargers but unfortunately for him, he will never end up there.

Dude is clutch. And listening to him talk he's humble, level headed and got a great head on his shoulder.

Sam is THE GUY. Im fully sold on him. And I was a huge Geno stan. But Darnold is IT.

I agree. I was a bit surprised when PFF listed him as their top ranked QB, but after watching last night's game, you can sure see why. He didn't make any mistakes, no turnovers, managed some sketchy blocking, not a lot of support from the running game, and got us into position for a walk off FG.

I was surprised to hear that he's just 28 years old, won't turn 29 until next June. He has a ton of experience, having played for 4 other NFL teams. He has the capability of taking us deep into the playoffs. Definitely an upgrade over Geno. During that last drive to get us into FG range, I was thinking how Geno would have figured out a way to lose a close game as that one last night was.

All last season people were saying the Vikings were too smart a team to let Sam walk out of the building. I'm also surprised the Raiders passed on him, I heard Pete and Chip wanted Sam but Brady nixed the deal.

Sometimes the smartest guys in the room aren't always the best decision makers.

He has his moments where it feels like you can see him panic, but they are few and far between. Considering that he's cheaper than Geno and we got a draft pick, he's a good replacement.

Darnold's authoritative and emphatic articulations in the huddle remind me of Dave Krieg. Which I loved. And to which I think the players respond well.
