Who is?? Especially with our rotten defence, and yet the Seahawks are 3-0?

God bless Russell Wilson. Thank you.

Aaron Rodgers or Patrick Mahomes. Both are also playing at an elite level. Lamar Jackson’s candidacy took a hit by losing in convincing fashion to KC.

Wilson also tends to taper off toward the end of the season. He'll probably put up the better stats and record and lose to Josh Allen, who seems to be the popular choice this year since the Bills are decent for the first time in 25 years.

Every other fan base would be sticking up for their guy.

Colt fans never conceded Manning to Brady. Patriot fans never conceded Brady to Manning.

Seahawk fans concede everything. It started with minimizing Shaun Alexander's achievements and the concessions have never completely gone away. Eastern punditry has definitely left it's mark.

It's a sorry state when Skip Bayless has more influence on the narrative than Bill Belichik.

13 games left . The priority is to keep Wilson healthy and on the field first and foremost .

Yes, but that's why PC is letting Russel cook this season. Lol, honestly he's finally getting some recognition this year, and he's playing with a chip on his shoulder.

So did Shaun Alexander.

Seattle is many maps and globes these days. Microsoft made sure of it.

Believe me when I say, that I did the non-jinx prayer before this post.

Wilson is clearly the current media favorite, and, barring a complete derailment, he will win it. Every show I have watched, granted I don't watch these talk shows, but ESPN is always on in the doctors lounge, and every broadcast where Wilson is mentioned, he is said to be the leading MVP candidate.

When selecting the MVP, first the stats have to be near the top of the league. Check

Second, there is a bias toward QBs who have not won it before. Check

Third there is a bias toward rookies and very promising young players. Mahomes (already won it), Jackson (already won it), Kyler Murray (in contention), Josh Allen (third year is harder to make the needed impact with voters, probably in 4th place currently).

Fourth there is a bias toward body of work and consistently excellent production. Only two of the candidates fit this category, Wilson and Rodgers (3rd place).

Rodgers has already earned two MVPs. Wilson has none. He has the stats, he has the body of work. It is his for the losing right now.

Lots of football to be played, though, and voters don't seem to account for strength of schedule.

People are still arguing about the SB 49 goal line pass, Darrell Bevell and Tom Cable..........so welcome to the forum, let me show you around.

As far as Russell's MVP candidacy, he's for sure at the top of everyone's list. But the MVP is more than just individual performance, your team needs to not only win it's division, but also be a #1 or #2 seed and have a 14-2 or 13-3 type of year.

Which has been Russell's problem the last 5-6 years as to why he hasn't received any votes even though he's been a top 5 player in the entire league.

Concede? Lol. No, it's just too early........and him winning is JUST as much about where the Hawks finish the year as it is about how well he plays.

We go 13-3, win the division and get the #1 seed, hell yeah Russell should win the MVP. We go 10-6 or 11-5 again, don't win the division? Nope, not going to happen again for Russell.

For the 1st time since our SB loss we might win a playoff game that matters (assuming the defense can be fixed by our guys being healthy and this is not an issue with scheme/coaches) and the MVP won or lost would be an issue?

With our defense, Wilson will have the chance. Because he will need to score 4-5 TDs per game to win.

And he can.

Admittedly, playing in the NFC West is likely going to impact his production.

If the MVP award is important to Wilson, I wouldn't doubt him. But it is a weird thing to be fixated on. He will assuredly get at least a few votes. Does he need to win it for us to feel that we have a great QB?

Does anyone even doubt that the guy voted #2 overall player by the players themselves is going to be recognized?

If Wilson loses to Mahomes would it be that big a deal?

(I seem to remember arguments like this about Aaron Rodgers vs Brady. Rodgers was often picked as the better QB. Does it matter? Because most history is going to remember Brady as the best QB in history with the most SBs. Even if a large % of that was Bill and Aaron Rodgers would have done the same or better under Bill.)

What matters is that Wilson could have been doing this and that Wilson finally is. Imagine this kind of offense back when we had our great defensive players. Imagine if we bothered to do this back after showing it worked (when Lynch got hurt). Or leaned full into it when we had guys like Baldwin and Jimmy Graham??

Instead of trying to run the ball even after Rawls was injured. With guys like Mike Davis....instead of using our potentially MVP caliber QB to the best of his ability. Those are lost opportunities. Who knows how many playoff wins we squandered but what matters is that we finally made the change. (Likely because Carroll was forced to.)

The goal now should be to go as far as we can with what we got. The MVP should be a by-product of that, if anything.

Oh God!... That's so realistic, and so Seattle! Dear football Gods, please no. Please.

Why is this a talking point? This happened once, last year, due to a rash of injuries on the offense.

So, Russ will lead the way until the last 6-7 weeks when the media will get tired of the same story, hype another player, and Russ will end up with 2-3 votes so the NoVotes story dies.
