I honestly believe we would go 19-0 if Russ, Lynch and Harvin had the 05 OL.

Right now we are fielding an A+ -
DL
LB
DB
RB
WR ?
QB
ST

And there's the OL ....TBD??? Right now it's glaring.

There's no reason we can't fix the online in the next few weeks.

Has there ever been a team more complete in week 7 that has so much room for improvement?

NO folks. There hasn't. - send

As Dennis Green would say "Crown their asses". There would be no doubt who the best team in the NFL is. Wilson was outstanding last night. The Cards seemed like they were blitzing on each play. They had at least 3 guys in the backfield chasing Wilson yet he still passed for 235 yards, 3 TDs, and 0 intercepts. The OL is a turnstile majority of the time. They are improving slowly but still not where they need to be.

I want Pete and John to draft NOTHING but offensive lineman in April's draft. I'm so frustrated with the constant flux and state of injuries. Draft a million linemen and let them comPETE for starting gigs. I want backups that are just as good as the starters, and I want Russell better protected. I wince every time I see him about to get hit.

Even last year's line isn't good enough - Okung and Unger played lights out, but our guards were terrible and Giacomini blew hot and cold - I never realised JUST how bad they were until I watched a couple of games earlier this year when totally bored (I don't usually watch other teams' games), and watched QBs sit back for 5-6 seconds before releasing the ball. I always thought our pass rush was inept until I realised that most pass rushes look like ours did last year, I was just comparing them to the revolving doors that were our linemen.

We saw what happened in the pro bowl when Wilson was given even a fraction of time to throw.

OL is the only thing stopping Russell from taking over the earth from a passing perspective. But...our OL as currently constituted (and referring to a healthy OL here)...and its ability to run block...I think makes our offense more difficult to stop than let's say Atlanta pass-pass-pass. I can't imagine how other teams feel late in games when they're down and Lynch is still ripping off big runs, in fact ripping off even bigger runs because the D is worn down.

Our line when healthy isn't *good* at pass protect, I think it aspires to be average, but it's good enough to win the SB I think.

OTOH, even though our identity is as a running team and our (healthy) OL can run-block pretty well, I still think spending some more capital on the OL on guys who can do both ZBS-for-run and pass protect is the better move. Our identity may be as a running team, but Russell being healthy is inarguably much more critical to our sustained success than even running the ball IMO. And even when the run game is going and PA is working, Russ still is getting nailed, so it isn't enough just to let the run-threat mitigate the crap pass pro.

It's not going to happen probably with Cable around. I think I can accept this if we can get some decent depth at the LT position, and if Bevell can stop going into 7-step-drop mode like he tends to do for long stretches of time. I only want to see big dropbacks off of PA if we're going to have a below-average-to-average pass protecting line.

For much of the game we were also lacking a full back to help pick up the blitz.

We have some interesting pieces on our line when healthy. I just wonder if Okung and particularly Carp will ever have enough mobuility to be able to consistantly do what we need them to do. Carp looks like a big flounder but he did come back in the game and play injured so at least he has heart.

Holy cow, look out. Just write him in as the SB MVP.

GREAT WIN TONIGHT BOYS!!!!

If Russell Wilson Had A SB-Caliber OL?

If "if's" and "buts" were candy and nuts, what a Merry Christmas we'd have!

But seriously, great quaterbacks make adjustments for deficiencies on the OL. There's been years where Peyton Manning and Tom Brady both have had to endure enormous turmoil on their OL's yet they've always had their teams in the playoffs. Russell's been able to do that so far this season.

Imagine RW with Denvers O line.

My GOD!!!!!!

Exactly.

Where do you get the idea that Denver has this elite offensive line. The fact is Manning get's the ball out so quick their OL doesn't have to block that long. With Russell running this offense, I doubt Denver's line would be much of an upgrade.

Denver traded for John Moffitt from us.
Moffitt's not actually that bad at pass pro.
I understood he was starting at one point for them due to injuries. Not sure if he is now.

Our line is fine when healthy for what this team needs right now which is to smash you in the face all game and break you down. I think we will witness an evolution on our line in the coming seasons to transition away from run first to a more balanced attack to afford our QB some longevity.

As for the Broncos line being good, not so much, Manning shooting lasers after 2.5 seconds in the pocket is what defines that team.

hawks are extremely deep at every defensive position and relatively deep at O line. Wilson showed me something tonight. When Okung and the Italian buffalo come back from the injury list Wilson will prove he belongs in the top rated passers club. That through in the 3rd quarter was epic. Guy hanging on his ankle while hew was horizontal and delivered a strike that only his receiver could catch. No one, I mean no does that. The TD to Rice was similar. Imagine when RW can predict the receiver being open ( line holds) consistently with Lynch running the ball. SB trophy's in the case. When Lynch fades away Wilson will be coming in to his prime...if we have the line to protect the chosen one.

My god that's a beautiful nickname

LOLWUT? That O-line benefits from Manning, not the other way around.

Russell has a Super Bowl O-line. It's just that Okung is hurt. Good grief.

This. Great players make those around them better. Fact.
