I do think it's fitting both are NFL short...so Seattle and so fitting. Seriously the migraine thing is cured and until last year he never was seriously injured physically and even that wasn't about the injury.

If and big if out of the gate till he shows he's really 100 percent Harvin can ramp up to game speed I pose this question. Knowing you have Lynch in the Back Field and need to stack to stop him, Wilson with the Read option so a spy on him, Tates emergence as a receiver that can catch and run and is a load to bring down if he gets going and the need to over the top cover. Miller or Willson as seam guys or wheel route guys that need a Linebacker or Safety to play up on them. Kearse showing he can catch the ball anywhere and can go out, up, or on a fly pattern and requires someone to over under cover at least. How do you defense Harvin if these guys all clear an area and open a hole to throw to him in as they go into blocking mode and his Kick returning Skills kick in? Tate is more a load and power guy to bring down after the catch. Harvin if he has regained his burst and cutting ability, something that does come from his hips will have a escort to the edge or a seam to run through just about every play. Cheat on him and somebody else is wide open.

You really think it's an issue? They could have played him 2 weeks ago but because of the investment they waited until he was 100%. Remember even now we do not need him. It's just with him we enter into elite status home or road like New England, Denver, Green Bay, Pittsburgh..

He had practiced and the hip became fatigued and sore, he sat out and had another MRI and had been working it back into usable shape without the soreness, he was back at practice again to see how it holds up. Hard cuts and hits and twists on legs and the body still have not really happened, with a 15 day rest period after Minnesota I could see the staff being cautious and not just putting out there because it's Minnesota.

I can see them waiting for New Orleans but it seems Minnesota is the deal so my feeling is that it's full go. By that I mean limited play (10-20 plays).

The amount of 12s about to be dangling from Percy's sack in a couple weeks is gonna be staggering. I am very confident that there isn't going to be much ypc and yac talk and all this jibber-jabbering about his shortcomings or his attitude or anything. This franchise hasn't had a playmaker of this caliber. Ever. He's got fresh legs in November and it's about to get all sorts of raucous up in here. The only thing lanyone is about to be saying is "WOW"
Correct but what makes it insane is we basically score both a top 5 quarterback and wide receiver the same age and NFL proven for minimum 5 years after this year.

U.fortunately this is doubtful. Percy is awesome but he is the complete opposite of Wilson in the injury prone department. Wilson is like a scrap of iron as drago once said while percy is made of glass. I think Percy will be in and out of injury his entire stay here I'm just hoping he can survive through this years playoffs.
I can't understand this view given he missed like 4 games before last year and was put on IR because of politics. He called both Frazier and Childress out and Ponder....hmm...who do you think among the four choices has a leadership job in 2014?

Well having it up in the air and Harvin on the 53 man roster if nothing else makes Minnesota have spend time looking at old film of how Bevell used him and then look at current play sets and guess best they can on how he will be used here. Thats a lot of time wasted if he doesn't even see the field by the Vikings. Something I could see Pete doing.

One part of this makes no sense: if we're passing to Harvin in the backfield, how is that discouraging Safeties from playing the run ? If anything it causes them to creep up to the line of scrimmage even more when he's in there, and motioned to the backfield. Keep in mind, the line of scrimmage doesn't end with the Tackle box and goes across the field.
Think horizontal not vertical; I agree with your last statement. If Harvin stretches the field horizontally that helps Lynch and the inside running game. Would the Rams game plan still have worked if they needed to worry about Harvin in addition to having a spy on Wilson?

Win win.:) I really do think he plays though given he was full go no bad reports .

To the poster above, that is what makes him special, he can stretch the field both horizontally and vertically that is rare. Plus KR's if you want, really?

Truth be told, Harvin will mimic Miller. Come from another team with catch's and touch's everywhere and basically just vanish into the fog that is Hawk Offense.
Please let that you being sarcastic because I really can't take that as a serious view.

Why is that hard to believe? There are two things that this team features on offense, and that is pounding the rock with Marshawn and company and taking advantage of RW's skillset.

Beyond that, they don't focus very heavily on a single player, especially among the receivers. They are all play makers, but the wealth is shared fairly equally in an almost continuum-like manner. I won't go as far as to say that Percy will 'vanish-' he's too extraordinary of an athlete for that- I doubt he will stand out the way he did with the Vikings. His presence alone will open things up for Baldwin, Kearse, Tate, Miller etc... Do you expect the Hawks to stop spreading the ball around? Diversity is our friend. We are nearly unstoppable with decent blocking as it stands. Can you imagine what will happen once Harvin is to fully up to speed and somewhat assimilated? This is fixing to get ridiculous!

Tate has been the receiver that has the most notoriety as of late based on his celebrations, other then that the National media would not know who we have active on the roster. Harvin is a big name and they are going to spew all sorts of garbage about how we don't use him enough once things get rolling. As stated our offense is one of multiple threats from all over the field. He may not have the yards he had in Minnesota but he also won't have as many hits and be expected to be the bread and butter. His presence is going to do nothing but benefit everyone else as well, he has to be accounted for, with our skill sets on offense you won't be doubleing guys or have the luxury of being able to isolate and spy Wilson as easy as well.

Saying we can do various short lateral passes or screens or whatever to get him in position for YAC is not selling him short, it's game planning to his strengths. This is ridiculous.

So, dispute me if I am wrong. Branch comes in as a prolific many catch lots of yards and TD's guy and disappears. Same with Miller. Rice. We sign all these nice offensive pieces and then just send them to purgatory due to our philosophy.

That is WHY, Tate, Baldwin, Kearse etc do well as far as we fans are concerned. We do NOT emphasize someone. We spread the ball around the entire universe offensively.

This will be fun to bump. May even go into my sig it's so silly.

No kidding. Some of the comments people have made about him are so ridiculous they don't deserve response.

In the end it probably won't have an effect, but an interesting side note to the Percy Harvin era is that it seemed one of the main reasons that PH signed with the Hawks, aside from money of course, was that his old buddy and mentor Sidney Rice was here. I would imagine Sidney did his part in helping to convince PH to pick Seattle. And they were looking forward to being reunited and playing together again. And now it's most likely they'll never play a down together in a Seattle uniform.

Other interesting side note (if only to me): My old English grandpa's first name was Percy and his only brother was Sidney.

I completely disagree that anyone is selling him short.

He's not played a football game in a year due to injuries, and this is a player whose best quality is explosive athleticism.

So waiting to see what he can do is fair enough IMO.

And most people are salivating at the idea of him playing on Sunday anyway. I'd argue we need to be patient and prepared for a quiet year. The chances are he won't be the same Percy who was an MVP candidate last season. Next year if he stays healthy, hopefully we'll see him at his best.

The only way I'm selling Harvin short is due to the fact that he hasn't played yet.

Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited about him being a Hawk. BUT, until we see him on the field, and STAY on the field I'm tempering my expectations as to what I think he can bring to our offense.

My feelings exactly. The precise way in which he contributes isn't nearly important as his overall contributions.

The first step is to get him on the field and playing at full speed. Figuring out exactly how to use him comes later.

Not sure what the hell this idiot was thinking with this post...

(totally spaced that Harvin was traded, not a free agent)

That's a gem of a phrase... with a high probability of accuracy as well.
