I think the Seahawks were sniped at 5

I really think the Seahawks were targeting Will Anderson or Anthony Richardson at 5. The Seahawks targeting a smallish CB at 5 is so far outside of the norm for this teams philosophy. (I'm not saying they don't really really like this guy obviously they do).
For me AR being taken by Indy was a real gut punch and I bet it was for the Seahawks as well.

AR at 5 was a gut punch for me too. Not so much WA, who I feel will be good but not a Bosa type.

I said all along if they absolutely loved Richardson, they MUST trade up and not "hope" that someone else won't take him. I had a very strong feeling it would be Indy too. I wasn't buying the Levis to Indy talk at all.

I don't know if we'll ever know the truth about our true feelings for AR.

Devon Witherspoon was one of two players they wanted at that 5th pick. Not sure it was a gut punch to land a top 2 player on your draft board.

If they were sniped, then yes, I agree they should have moved up to get him. But, they decided not to force the issue. Now we still have no long term answer at qbotf. If they grab one in the middle rounds, that doesn't exactly inspire confidence either. And next year we will likely be picking in the 20's. So, not sure what their long term strategy is for qb. No idea whatsoever.

If you were the Cardinals do you want to trade for Houstons next year round one pick or ours? No way they would trade with us. Especially with a potential franchise changing QB there (in your own division no less). I don't think it was even an option for the Seahawks to trade up.

nah. AR would sit behind Geno and hope he could become a QB later which is a huge crapshoot. They want to win now so drafted somebody who is a dog and could contribute immediately to winning.

Maybe they were, but I doubt they had their hearts set on Richardson or we'd have seen more effort to move up.

As I said in another thread, Hendon Hooker, Will Levis and Clayton Tune all still available at QB all possible starter material.

Don't think he was. Otherwise, it wouldn't have taken up so much clock to finally pick him. They fielded calls to trade down and didn't get the value they wanted. Witherspoon was their next best player. But not the player they really wanted with that pick.

PCJS said he was one of two players they wanted to take at that spot. They had offers to trade down, no one was going to offer enough to move them off that spot. Now you can either take them at their word, or not. Anything else is just baseless speculation.

Them fielding calls means they were exploring all potential options. Maybe they were on the phone with him for a moment.

Again, unless any of you have legitimate evidence to the contrary, these are all baseless speculations, potentially inaccurate opinions and hurt feelings at this point

Again, trading up was not an option most likely. Texans were not trading their pick and Cardinals were not going to trade with us when they had an outstanding option with the Texans. Indy was set on picking a QB and unfortunately they took AR.
Also as has been pointed out the Seahawks waited the full 10 minutes to put in their selection, like every last second of it. No reason to do that unless they wanted to see what trade down options might come.

The Hawks knew the odds were against them with either AR or Anderson being there at 5.

Yeah Houston trading back up to grab Anderson was a surprise, but you have to figure Arizona would have drafted him anyway if the couldn't trade out.

I would have preferred Anderson, but I'm just fine with Witherspoon. He's an absolute baller and fits the Hawk mold of skill, bully and loves the game.

I have given at least three reasons why I think this is true. Yes its an opinion, but I did give the reasons why I have them.
