I don't think J. Williams will make the team

How big are his hands?

Are they good hands?

Honest hands?

Give the kid some time, the Seahawks play at a way different clip than Alabama. He'll make the adjustments he needs too, because he's one of those study fiends (I'm starting to see a trend here). He could just be one of those guys that comes unhinged during games and has a hard time getting fired up for practice.

We'll find out more next Thursday.

It was never a secret that Williams was raw and flashed signs of brilliance. As shocking as it is, it does take some players time to adjust to the NFL, let alone a 5th rounder

It takes 5th rounders longer to adjust to the nfl than 2nd rounders bro. Could you imagine if the draft was still 12 rounds how long it would take the tenth pick too adjust? Jesse Williams is a pro bowler all the way everyone knows it, well besides the GMs on every other team in the NFL. Hopefully he pans out but theres nothing wrong with someone noticing negative things about his technique.

I'm just wondering if anybody in this thread has read what the trained eyes in camp are saying. Jesse has been doing well (overall) so far.

Let's get through at least one pre-season game before we start making bold predictions like this. Good grief. Today is just not a good day in the history of seahawks.net.

Laughing...man, this is a real gang tackle. Nice work. We will see what happens. I'm going to crawl into a hole and hide now. Of course, if he doesn't make the team....I will come back out.

Bilious, likely from the Bay, I'll laugh loud when Williams gets his second All-Pro. Time will tell.

Pete Carroll should be scared. This guy can do in one hour of shoddy video coverage what it takes Pete all preseason to do.

How sure are you? Would you like to bet some tickets to a future Seahawks game?

He's probably asking his mom right now.

Yeah along with the OP we may be in the minority here. I have my doubts about him cracking the 53 also. I kinda know why PC drafted him. He's a beast. But looking through a few highlights of him he is very raw. Also being from Australia he didn't really grow up playing the game so he doesn't have the football instincts and footwork that kids who played the game from an early age have. You can muscle your way through in college but in the NFL not so much. I will be watching him with interest in the pre-season.

I've been watching Jesse W. on the .com feed and I can't see him making the squad. He is very high cut and has sticks for legs. That's going to make him a target for cut blocks(which they don't practice against each other.) Even without cut blocks the guy is spending a lot of time on the ground. Today, during 11 on 11, I saw him dive to the ground as soon as the ball was snapped, before the offensive line could even engage him. He was clearly trying to protect his knee. I don't know, I've been wrong before...what do you guys think?

I for one enjoyed your post. I like hearing a fan's analysis when they share their reasons for coming to the conclusion they came to. Obviously hope you're wrong, but I respect your opinion and am glad you shared it.

I would say it was. Nothing about Williams suggests he is "raw". The guy would have been a low first round pick or high second round pick, were it not for his knee.

I just read through some of my draft mags looking for some back up. Here is what Lindy's had to say about him: Negatives-"Bit of a one trick pony, does not possess the quickness or agility to collapse the pocket as a pass rusher. Must do a better job protecting his knees as he is susceptible to cut blocks. Too often raises his pad level at the snap, negating some of his power and making him all the more vulnerable to cuts. Has only moderate flexibility.
Of course, that doesn't really mean much. After all, Sherman wasn't even ranked in the draft magazines.

But we only have so many spots on the D line and Williams does have a wonky knee. He has already missed two practices because of it. So who are we going to cut? Howard? No. McDonald? I doubt it. Hill? No. Somebody has to go.

Oh and for those of you who think I'm a twelve year old troller...I'm not. I'm the head coach of a rugby team and a long time hawk fan who years ago used to post on this board under the name Hayden Epstien,(yes, I know it's misspelled.)

And on the bet...hell NOOOOOO!!!!
