Always wanted to join the Navy but my spine wouldn't allow me past the physical. I dig the way that verbal communications/commands occur on the bridge and the way the hierarchy is followed. It's just cool and impressive to me.

One of my favorite movies is Crimson Tide and I get goose bumps listening to the way they make and respond to orders. Always been a fan of strict and precise communications between crew members. I know there is a hell of a lot more to the job than that, but that part of it is cool.

I suppose that's why I got into the fast lube business as we had a choreographed calls and echoes system that kept everyone in synch. I imagine Greg will be doing a lot of that stuff during exercises and drills. Hopefully, not for real.

It would only be right if you got your own MJOLNIR Mark-V armor to go with the new title.

Congrats Greg!

Same here. Only replace back with knee and that's me. I could (and probably still can) do the run, but I'd have to ice my knee for the next week afterwards.

Congrats Greg. That's fricken amazing. Please let me know when the tail gating will be done. I definitely don't want to miss THAT one!

My father served aboard the USS Ticonderoga in the late 60's, I tried to follow in his footsteps but I got denied due to a spinal deformity. Wish I could have got in ...

Don't want to sound like a broken record so,...

God Speed Greg !!!

Awesome! Awesome! AWESOME!

pops was in the Navy before i was born and as a kid I wanted to be a marine or sailor
but as i got older those 'dreams' were replaced. I appreciate the sacrifices you made/make
for all us American civilians!

BZ Master Chief!

Like Sailor, I'm also retired, but I'll take any excuse to come aboard (or even get underway...) I'm just down the road (about an hour without traffic...)

CMC has got to be the coolest job in the world.

Congrats!

Greg. I'm not sure if it's within your new duties or not aboard the Nimitz to be able to cast civilians into the Brig, but I may need to voluntarily turn myself in tonight. I'm trying to decide if it should be for "Drunk and disordinantly cool" or "Assault with a friendly weapon"

The guilt is overwhelming

Have mercy.
