do we do a package deal and take Kiffin as the OC?
I thought he had some intrigue when he was considered a late-rounder, but his hype has gotten way out of control lately and anyone using a first or second round pick is setting themselves up badly for failure. Honestly, I think a big part of the hype among NFL fans surrounding Jaxson Dart is that his name is Jaxson Dart. If his name was Bill Smith, nobody would be talking about him. He has like 2-3 games per season where he lights up some trash team and I think those stick in people's minds too. If you look at his full body of work, it's crazy how disproportionate of an amount his stats are against the worst teams he faces, or in non-playoff bowl games which are basically just glorified exhibitions now. He continually comes up short against even decent competition when the games matter most and displays nothing resembling NFL decision making. He's basically asked to do no pre-snap processing whatsoever at Ole Miss.Dart looking like dogshit at the senior bowl.
Jaxson Dart, QB, Ole Miss: 6'1" - 226 Pounds - 9 1/2" Hands - 80" Wing
Dart came in with a lot of draft hype and conversations about his rising stock, but after today, they should slow down. Personally, I never believed or saw the hype in Dart from his game film, particularly today. He lacked NFL-caliber processing and ball placement today, and it showed on his college film.

Jaxson Dart Ole Miss QB...declared today...with our oline...he can run and pass!
I'm not sure why its a foregone conclusion a rookie would fail miserably. We had 6 guys play well this year including some horrible situations from the previous year. I don't think the line is that far off from being fine with an interior piece or two. The tackles if healthy are good and we have a new OC.I don't know why you all want a rookie QB to be set up for failure, no line and you get David Carr, fix the line, establish a running threat and you don't need to roll dice, reach or hope for a draft position. You can pick up a guy that hasn't been broken yet from another team, yes you may not get a rookie contract, but you get a guy that has been given time to acclimate to the NFL and cut his teeth some. Hass, Geno being two examples here that have worked out. Since they are not starters for their teams you will get a chance to give them that chance on a deal that is team friendly and control the payout based on performance.
Joe Montana had a high processor, very mobile around pocket and threwHey a fellow Rebel, that's plenty to love for ole toffee. But some said that he ain't got strong arms, true? That being said, Joe Montana went in 3rd round for not having strong arms. And Joe said high school QBs can throw 50 yards down the field, he questioned the relevancy of cannon arms.
that would be a massive reach and stupid move. Highly unlikely JS makes that decision. From what I'm hearing Jaxson Dart will go in the 1st now and it may be to the Seahawks. And I would be ok with that
Why is it a reach? Because, he's not rated that high by people who are wrong extremely often? Gm's don't care if anyone says it's a reach if they are rated that highly on their board. Nor should theythat would be a massive reach and stupid move. Highly unlikely JS makes that decision.
because he's not very good? Why is it a reach? Because, he's not rated that high by people who are wrong extremely often? Gm's don't care if anyone says it's a reach if they are rated that highly on their board. Nor should they
GMs are wrong extremely often too.Why is it a reach? Because, he's not rated that high by people who are wrong extremely often? Gm's don't care if anyone says it's a reach if they are rated that highly on their board. Nor should they
Not at all. I'm just basing it off of articles I've read of people who watched him at the Senior Bowl practices. And podcasters I trust who are very knowledgeable and work for the Seahawks or at least have very close relationships within the organization that he is quickly rising up boards. It's a QB, they all go higher than they are "mocked." It's just a premium position. I'm just saying if JS feels very strongly about him, has him rated highly and doesn't think he will last until their next pick at 50 then it could be well within reason he could be our pick. That's true about any team. All it takes is one organization to fall in love with someone to take that shot. We have a need there, it could be us. Not saying it will, but it could.GMs are wrong extremely often too.
Is your opinion that he'll go in the first and that Seattle is very likely to consider him based on a something a GM told you?
This gets way overstated. I remember hearing the same stuff being said about Spencer Rattler last year that's being said about Dart, and a lot of people here thought he'd go in the second round and perhaps even the late first. He went in the fifth round. We heard the same about Malik Willis, Desmond Ridder, Matt Corral. Sam Howell was supposed to be a second rounder, with thoughts that some team could reach surprisingly early because of the position. Remember when Will Levis was a top 10 pick? It's a QB, they all go higher than they are "mocked." It's just a premium position.
