Does anyone here have an opinion on Hendon Hooker, QB for Tennessee?

I see Seahawk fans & media pundits hyping up Will Levis, but no one seems to be paying attention to Hendon Hooker, so I'd like to do a little QB comparison here.

Levis' stats:

2021
233/353 2,826 yds passing
24/13 TD/INT
66% cmp
376/9 yds/TD's rushing

2022 (so far)
79/117 1,185 yds passing
10/4 TD/INT
67.5% cmp
-37/2 yds/TD rushing

Hooker's stats:

2021
206/302 2,945 yds passing
31/3 TD/INT
68.2% cmp
620/5 yds/TD rushing

2022 (so far)
81/113 1,193 yds passing
8/0 TD/INT
71.7% cmp
175/3 yds/TD rushing

Hooker appears to do what Levis does, but better (especially limiting INT's). The only knock on him, maybe, is that he'll be 25 in Jan.

Is Hooker a viable candidate to be the next Seattle QB? With the work he's putting out, he deserves some attention.

Hendon's a gamer with a decent arm and upside on the ground.

He's significantly over-aged, but as the kids say, he's "got that dog in him."

Late round 3 to round 4 is where I'd put him now, but he can rise. If Seattle secretly has their eye on a guy that they're falling in love with and trying to hide, I bet you it's Hooker.

You are going to want to check the first stat line. If you do the math, that is 92% completions.

As far as Hendon, I watched his game yesterday and was impressed, but as Mael said, he will not be taken in the first two days.

Thanks for pointing that out. I have corrected it. I meant to type 233/353.

He's been my recent quarterback crush. He elevates his team and doesn't seem to shy away at all when the moment is big. His age, though... tough pill to swallow. Pushing 30 by the end of his rookie contract.

If you think he can be that rookie contract guy to take you there, though, go for it. No real reason to care about age when you're looking to capitalize on a championship window of "however long we have this guy on a rookie contract."

Seems like he has played college ball for 10 years. Solid college qb though.

Watched the Tenn - LSU game. Hooker has Seahawks written all over him. Very accurate and has beautiful deep ball. I hope he's a Seahawk post 2023 NFL draft.

If they do get Hooker, they're definitely waiting until the 2nd round or later to get him. Hopefully they don't try to get cute and wait for the 3rd round

I don't believe they need to draft a QB in the first. Think of the successful QBs this franchise had....none of them were 1st rounders (ok maybe one - Warren Moon). Krieg was undrafted, Hass was a 6th rounder, and Wilson was 3rd rounder. Those are arguably the top 3 QBs in franchise history to date. When they did pick a QB in the first round, they ended up with Dan McGwire and Rick Mirier. Plus they acquired former first rounders in Kelly Stouffer, Jeff George, and Ryan Leaf who proceeded to to do diddly during their Seahawk careers.

If 2023 is a solid QB draft then there's no need to reach for someone in the 1st round (expectations would be high and the risk is higher). I'd rather see them try to shore up some holes on defense DT or LBs by using the early picks.

Herndon looking less and less likely to be a 2nd-3rd round steal. He's having his way with Bama right now.

bryce young has "bust" written all over him. i'm not sure what people are seeing? and he's not kyler murray. and like past ohio state / alabama qbs, he's propped up by bama's superior talent and is highly televised and marketed. i imagine there are atleast 6-8 better qbs in this next draft, depending on who declares.

He's not Brandon Weedon. Kenny Pickett went 20th in the last draft as a 24 year old against considerably worse competition.

Reminds me of 🥁… Geno Smith. I’d be fine with drafting him, if he is around with our second pick in the second round or 3rd round.

ryan pickett was a noticable reach. it uttered desperation by the steelers. tiny hands, and not even the best qb in a poor qb class.

exactly. i'd take a flier on him.

@Rat these are the games where a guy like hooker (5th year senior, transfer, 24 yo) can move his stock up. beating #1 bama would go a long long way to moving towards the late 1st round

i'm not dimissing what he's done these last 2 seasons at tennessee
