...but not the way you all want it.

I think the drafting of Hall is a move with all the other edge to move Jarran Reed more inside He has the size, and the motor. Still 6 more picks.

That is a possibility so we have to see how the rest of the draft shakes out. Keep in mind that there are a lot of veteran NTs that are still free agents.

It's shaping up they will bring in some veterans post draft. Hard to expect day 3 rookies to come in and be major contributors along the D-Line.

JS said it in the press conference they had upsets at the position. We seemed to want to pick guys but they were gone.

One of the first times I have ever agreed with you. Too many on .net are freaking out about not drafting someone in the trenches. There is a lot on this team already, a bunch that can re sign and last still 6 more picks.

With Jarran Reed at NT it allows Cameron Young to ease into rotating in. It does allow Mario Edwards some more playing time at 5T with Mike Morris rotating in to 3T/5T since Dre'Mont will be a 3 down DT. The Edge/OLB pass rush is set to mix youth with more youth...Uchenna and DT with Darick Hall helping to "push" last years Mafe to more of an impact. Our Pass Rush Coach BT Jordan has a lot of youth to work with. TNT personified.

Looks like you were on to something here Rainger.

Derick Hall is a speed to power high motor Edge with great athleticism (excellent RAS skill ratings). The only "knock" I had heard of is lacking some pass rush "counters" to excel at the NFL level...that's why we hired BT Jordan who had an excellent private "school" prior to our team's hiring...that drew many of the elite NFL players to enhance their skill set.

Jarran Reed mostly played 3T/5T for us before (with Poona Ford as NT) but he did play NT quite well in college for Alabama. Similar to Derick Hall in the respect of being "first round" talent that slipped into the 2nd round where we "snagged" him.

Can Reed play better at nose than Al Woods? We shall see.
Al Woods played NT for us...but now that he's a Jet he has chipped about not liking the NT "role". Jarran played NT in college for Alabama so he's not likely to "sqawk' about playing there. He may not have Al's size but is quite stout and plays with a lot of "grit" which is Pete's buzzword for Seahawky attitude and nastiness.

“Jarren Reed playing nose tackle for us is crucial”
Pete Carrol @ about the 6:35 mark in his first day training camp press conference.
He goes on to elaborate a bit.

Pete is Pete and he doesn’t give up much but I’m 100% convinced that he’s as excited and optimistic as most of us are.
I’ve learned over the years that sometimes what he doesn’t say is as or more important than what he does say.

If you haven’t listened to this specific Q&A it’s certainly worth your time.
