Have trick plays become Kubiak's "great white whale"?

I don't mind creativity on offense but every time we've gotten cute it has been a disaster.
Up 14, 1st and 10 on the Texans 21 ready to put the dagger through the heart and that's what we draw up?
I was really frustrated with that call and was worried that it could cause a momentum swing but thank God for our defense!!!

Again, I don't mind being creative on offense every once in a while but maybe lets wait until we're up 40 or something in the 4th quarter and then try one just to see if it works! ;)

To be one of the best and be able to compete against the best, it's advisable to be able to pull off a trick play on rare occasion. What we've seen so far from the Hawks looks like they barely practice them and then figure they're good to go. C'mon guys, get the trick plays down with precision in practice before you even think about using them in actual games.

Nice to see them overcome that mistake. Previous seasons that would have been ballgame. This team is mentally more prepared for games than we have seen in several seasons.

Just 1/2 way through the highlights as I was watching the ALCS last night instead of the stupidly scheduled double header MNF.

Kubiak needs to stop being cute. That Kupp pick was just stupid. No reason for that gadget shit when you're up 14.

Kubiak gets a big fat F from me for his situational awareness yesterday. As pointed out above that was a terrible time to try a trick play. And in the 2nd half, normally I don't like going into a shell. But in this case you are playing one of the best D's in the league that is intent on ripping the ball out and you've managed to put yourself up 2 scores. Your D is completely overpowering their O. If there was ever a time to get conservative it was the third down with a 2 score lead deep in your end with a 2 score lead vs dropping Sam into the endzone.

Then on that 2nd last series with a 2 scores lead, just for the other team to burn their timeouts and punt the ball. Instead 2 drop backs, 1 leading to a sack.

This is exactly what I was thinking last night.

Trick plays are fun to watch but you don’t just run them because they sound cool. They need to be practiced to perfection.

My problem with the trick plays if it doesn’t work you look STUPID!!!! It has to work!!! Imagine if somebody covered Danny amendola on the fake punt when he sauntered towards the sideline. Are we the new Jeff fisher?, nah his trick plays worked

I don't mind the trick play on occasion, just pick your battles. Kupp is a fantastic player but clearly not a very good QB, lol...Oh, it happens. I can laugh about it now but imagine if we lost because of that play!

THIS!

Do the funny cutesy stuff WHEN THE GAME no longer is in the balance!

That way if the inevitable disaster happens, it won't matter.

Doing it at that moment mattered and it cost us 7 points potentially.

Had we gone up 21-0 there, this game (with our defense was playing) was virtually over.

I'm not against Trick plays but I am against plays that take the ball out of your QB's hands.

And stop running fing dropback plays for Darnold in our own endzone!!!!!

Moron.
seriously.

Some of us complain about going conservative but in that scenario, THAT IS THE TIME TO GO CONSERVATIVE.

Run the ball again to get further out of our own endzone area, then punt the ball away and let our Defense continue to feast on CJ Stroud's carcass.

sigh...
