While Darnold doesn’t have to out play Stafford to win the game or to even win it comfortably but if he out plays him then it’ll be another Belt To Ass session. Calling it to all of these talking heads!

I don't think anyone has expected Sam to out play Mat.

I actually do expect Darnold to have a better day than Stafford. Don't think he has to do a ton but I think they do attack them more vertically than they did the Niners.

As much as I believe Sam is CAPABLE of outplaying Matt, I just don't think it's needed. I believe it would ultimately come down to Coach Macdonald outcoaching Roidboy. McVay is a really great play caller. So, similar to the last 2 49er games, our defense just has to get on their head early and often and not allow those demoralizing, backbreaking 23 yarders on 3rd & 7 that keeps them on the field. Then Sam/KLINT can just run a well paced game and take advantage of scoring opportunities.

The only QB Sam has really needed to "beat" this year was Baker Mayfield, but that was a pretty isolated incident where we had some defensive injuries.

Keep Sam from turning the ball over 2.5 times
Have a solid run production to control the clock
Keep Puka around 100 Rec yards
and of course last but not least score more points then the other team..

Sam does not have to outplay Stafford! True statement, but he will!!! That does not mean that we are HAVING to rely on Sam. It means He will have better overall control of the QB position. Yes, you read it right, Sam exercises all demons this game. Book it Dano....

I think Sam in the 4th quarter onward showed that he finally solved Chris Shula's "trickery".

I believe he will continue his success against him and won't be fooled again this Sunday.
