According to a Gregg Bell on According to Softy KJR. 2thumbs:
Even in the worst case scenario at least it will be someone else screwing up.

We're already in worst case scenario.

I wonder if Pete told the LOB the same and they just ignored him knowing it was stupid, he just couldn’t say anything because they were making plays.

True or false: If Flowers wasn’t supposed to be playing so far off the WR he would have been benched a long time ago.

I think Flowers stinks. I also think he is playing exactly as they are telling him so that’s why he keeps playing.

I also think the same thing for KNJs crappy defensive schemes. He stinks as do his schemes but he is doing exactly as PC is telling him so thus he keeps his job. Ugh.

Except this isn't KNJ's crappy defensive schemes, it is Pete Carroll's crappy defensive scheme. You think Carroll would be putting up with KNJ if this was indeed his scheme? KNJ is just a rank and file soldier, Carroll is the brain child of this defense.

Agreed, although I can still find things I don't like about Flowers, such as not being able to make a play on a ball with his back turned to the QB.

LoB had 4 DB's, this Defense fields 3 with a Linebacker.

I'd like to see Tanner Muse Start at SS just to see what he can do. Our Safties are not supporting our cornners.

Unfortunate that Flowers is a scapegoat for DB issues. Not that he is helping himself in the matter. The rest haven't really done much either. There are two FA CBs that have prototypical size for press coverage. I'm surprised PC/JS haven't at least brought them in for tryout. They are -

Rasul Douglas - 6'2 209 pds, drafted in 2017 - 3rd rd by the Eagles (same draft as Sidney Jones) https://www.nfl.com/prospects/rasul-douglas/3200444f-5560-4176-bafa-285edcbca1af

Gareon Conley - 6'0 190 pds, drafted in 2017, 1st rd pick 24 by the Raiders

Which is what surprise me. Why did Pete sell the farm for Adams when he clearly didn't fit the scheme that won us a Lombardi?

More Jimmy Graham syndrome?

Precisely. From a scheme perspective, that one didn't make a whole lot of sense, either.

Only this mistake is costing us over 17 mill a year. This is the biggest debacle i've seen in terms of a trade in years you don't give up 2 firsts and a third for a Safety in todays NFL . The more i see of Jamal the more concerned i get he's just not that good . The man had better start bringing it on game day. Every time i think about this trade i get disgusted with Pete Carroll and it's reason enough on it's own to fire him at the end of the season.

Graham for Unger was probably the worst trade the Seahawks made under PC/JS. Adams trade makes more sense that Unger for Graham one. Unger was their best OL player. Trading him took an average OL to below average. They really haven't found a solution at center and have struggled at OL since.

Back to the topic, Flowers is a 5th round pick. They thought they found Sherman 2.0 but now are realizing that Sherman is in a different mold altogether and got very lucky with him. Flowers is right about one thing...he's not Richard Sherman.
Early on I think the key was they had Thomas and Chancellor at safeties, who helped a lot while Sherman and Browner were still learning. I know many people do not like ET on here but he was a very instrumental piece to the formation of LOB. They have not found an adequate FS to replace ET since he left. That's the big void. If a prime ET and Kam were back there as safeties today, most likely, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

After browner, RCB got picked on plenty even with Kam and earl. Not that guys like maxwell were anywhere near as exploited as flowers.

Chalking it up to needing better safeties is the exact opposite of how I view it. We could have a safety for a fraction of what we gave up for Adams but if we had NFL caliber corners we’d be just fine.

As largent has been pointing out over and over: you cannot hide weak corners except with pressure, and even with pressure if a QB is on point with his hot throws like cousins you’re still toast.

This D has talent, but they can’t even be decent without upgrading corner.

(LBs also need to cover something once in a while)
