Gotta say,.........Michael Bowie is WAY overrated

There were a lot of plays where he was standing there (like a deer-in-the-headlights) looking for something to do,......as a play would be ongoing.

Other O-linemen are (still) kickin'-A,..........and Bowie would be spinning in circles (looking for defensive targets).

Dude's not showin' ME much.

A rookie 7th round draft choice is overrated? Overrated by whom? Didn't know there were high expectations for a rookie 7th round draft choice.

I'm not sure who is rating him high but Football Outsiders says he hasn't been doing very well. Addressing the line for the rest of this year and next is going to be important.

Rookie. 7th round. Wasn't supposed to have to start.

Yep. He looks lost at times, but I think calling him overrated is off the mark.

Okay,....I'll agree, the "overrated" moniker is a bit harsh.

Point is,........issues involving the offensive woes are not saying much about his inabilities.

This is supposed to be the pros. I've seen more fire in lesser players.

That's all I'm sayin'.

I am more upset with the way the rest of the oline has been playing compared to Bowie. I mean he, Bowie, was not even expected to see the field this year and so far he has had to face JJ Watt and Robert Mathis, and hasn't looked completely inept. Again, Bowie, has done pretty well given the circumstances compared to Paul McQuistan, who has looked pretty awful since he has been inserted as the starter at LT.

Sorry sir, but your last statement is incorrect. McQuistan has looked completely and totally inept at LT, not just pretty awful.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't McQuistan at least serviceable last season? I remember one person called him "Swiss Army Knife" McQuistan because you could practically plug him in anywhere on the line if you needed to. How come he has fallen so far this year?

Uh....I thought I did say that Paul has looked terrible and that Bowie has showed promise, or at least that was what I was trying to say.

Looking lost is fine for a rookie. That's a football IQ & schematic learning issue.

He does well when he knows exactly what is coming. That's what matters right now.

My opinion: once Breno is healthy, we need to slide Bowie over to LT and make a decision on either McQ or Sweezy at RG. Carp stays at LG.

Doubt it works out that way. Have not understood Cable's personnel decisions since last year.

Legit question: Would we be doing better with John Moffitt? It seems like just have one more experienced linemen would have made a world of difference in our past two games. I still find it odd how much we went after pass rushers in the off season, it's not like we didn't already have a good pass rush and it's not like our O-line was great last year.

Not is only Bowie a 7th round OT but he's also a 21 year old kid. He's young, he's needs a lot of coaching and polish, but the talent to be dominant is there, more so, than I would say over the long-term than either Sweezy, Carpenter, or Giacomini.

Go back and watch the Atlanta game and see what happened when we lost our only good pass rusher the week before. We needed Bennett and Avril in a big way. Not to mention, there were no guarantees Clemons was going to make a quick and full recovery at the time.

Concur. But I do hope JS & PC go after some o-line upgrades this next offseason with the same vengeance they went after pass rushers the last.

I'm very pleased with Bowie's progress and see a big upside with him. I want him to replace McQuistan until the return of Okung. I'm not sure he is someone who could play guard, but if so perhaps supplant Sweezy, so we could have Miller, Okung, Carpenter, Unger, Bowie and Giacomini. Also, while we're talking O-line. Denver declared Moffitt inactive v. Cowboys. I'm pleased to hear he's not doing great for them.

McQuistan is the one who is over-rated. The fact that he's even on the field is a joke.

this times infinity... as far as Bowie, don't care, he's a 7th round rookie, he's suppose to look lost at times.. give him some time to develope..
