At least he isn't running downfield and causing stupid penalties like Sweezy is. Sweezy has been playing longer and is still as bad as the rest of them. Carp and Sweezy are the weakest non-rookie OL in the starting 5. MCQ isn't that much better either. Therein lies the problem with the offense.

I've actually been pleasantly surprised. He looked really good on film during the Colts game considering his draft position.

We need better backups at both LT and RT. These younger guys aren't up to the task.

Absolutely. I'm a little disapointed in our FO for neglecting line depth this offseason. Sure, 3 starters going down is not normal but we do't have a solid backup on the whole team.

This is how teams build depth. Consider depth officially "built" now, via attrition.

Also, Zac Miller is basically a 3rd Tackle, he's that good. So, they couldn't plan for him being hurt too.

I'm very pleased with Bowie's progress and see a big upside with him. I want him to replace McQuistan until the return of Okung. I'm not sure he is someone who could play guard, but if so perhaps supplant Sweezy, so we could have Miller, Okung, Carpenter, Unger, Bowie and Giacomini. Also, while we're talking O-line. Denver declared Moffitt inactive v. Cowboys. I'm pleased to hear he's not doing great for them.

Prefer Bowie to take over at RT. I'm interested to see if the team would consider Bailey at LT SOON . ..

Yet, with all these problems on the O-Line, they were able to pound the ball down the Colts' throats. But of course, Bevell decided to get cute and chose to stop something that was clearly working. Hawks win that game if he sticks to the run in the 2nd half, no doubt.

have some patience with bowie. before his college career was derailed by personal issues, he was on his way to being a high nfl draft pick. for his talent level, we stole him in the 7th round. with his personal issues behind him, he's on his way to being an all-pro lineman.

For what it's worth...

@DavisHsuSeattle: rewatched some OL play last night, I like Bowie better than Sweezy"

I'm actually pretty pleased with Bowie and think he's about to take Breno's place. Breno might get one more shot, but if he struggles then say hello to Bowie as our new starting RT.

As for McQuistan, I've no idea how he got so bad at LT. One can't expect him to look like Okung, but he's just been all over the place this time. Maybe age? If I could have my wish, we'd put him back at RG where he belongs as soon as Okung is back. Sweezey is just too dumb, and McQuistan would bring some needed veteran experience to the right side.

My god, McQuistan is so terrible in pass protection, without Miller last week he was a sieve and liability. I really, really, really want to see Bailey get some shots out there and Michael to get a few looks in the backfield. Bowie played pretty well for a 7th rounder going against 2 of the better pass rush teams the last 2 weeks. Not sure what is "overrated" about him.

How ironic is it that someone who cant spell is calling someone else dumb?

Looking for the spelling error................not seeing it but then maybe I'm just dumb. Regardless, attacking the poster here. SUPPOSED to be verboten.

Seems to me that all of the stud tackles that were taken in the 1st round of the draft are struggling too.
And for everyone saying they need to get better back ups...
Where? It's the 6th week of the season, it isn't like anyone better isn't already playing for another team.
Are they suppose to trade away draft picks; or perhaps one of our key players that has trade value?
Switching everyone around every week won't work either.
With all the starters missing, and Miller hurt AGAIN!
No easy solution is available, it sucks, but it's the way it is.
Just be thankful Russell can run!

A rookie 7th round draft choice is overrated? Overrated by whom? Didn't know there were high expectations for a rookie 7th round draft choice.

This says it all.. How the hell can a ROOKIE 7th round draft pick be overrated?

Typing from my mobile, so I hope you can read this: try offering something of substance to a thread.

p.s. I know.

p.p.s. You forgot an apostrophe.

I couldn't find a spelling error either.. Why are we attacking people now? Oh, he has less than 50 posts here. Figures.
