Grubb was PART of it. To think that he's the ONLY reason is not only plain silly, but also just more Geno apologist stuff.
The O line is PATHETIC. That is not ONLY because of the OC.
Grubb didn't throw a ridiculous number of interceptions, including several in the red zone. And that's not counting the SEVERAL that were dropped by defenders. He wasn't good enough; he was fired for it. But dear god, the Geno isn't at fault stuff is laughable.
Bro, if the play sucks, the pass pro sucks and the situational awarness sucks, the result will most likely suck. Whether RB or QB. And thats what we saw again and again.
Geno tossed INts, sure. But in the context of a crap offensive plan.
Who else is responsible for choosing to never run the ball? Whether to guve the line a break, to milk the clockx or to keep the D off balance?
Who else forces the line to drop into pass pro repeatedly even though they are already gassed and getting steamrolled?
Who else doesnt call plays to give his Tackles help and instead goes spread over and over and over again?
What idiot puts a backup in the game and sets him up to fail by having him passes pretty much exclusively, even though the run had worked and would have helped the new starter settle in?
And dont even get me started on the 4th and 1 pass call against the Giants in our own end where he allowed a jailbreak passrush to get a sack.
The dude is a pass design genius but a football moron. Harbaugh exposed him in the championship game and he was solved by week 5 of the season and never recovered ... because he was too arrogant and big headed to do so.
Do you honestly think that if Grubb wasnt ignorant AND obstinate / stubborn, the team would have let him walk and look like moron for giving him a shot in the first place? They paid him, gave him a platform to succeed in the league, trusted him when he said he would commit to a string run game and then watched him just call whatever the F he wanted regardless of peronell, team strengths and weaknesses, opponents strengths and weaknesses, situations and plain common sense.
He hurt the offense more than anything single player or unit did because he consistently put them in position to fail.
And F Geno's support for him too. Im sure Grubb calling the game Sunday to get Geno his incentives was a huge middle finger to the franchise, knowing he woukd be fired anyway. Shame on Geno for giving the guy credit and flat ignoring the BS he allowed to play out all year.
Good riddance. '25 cant get here soon enough.
