A lot of the fan base is happy with 9/10 win seasons rather than having one bad one. Its the worst place to be. They need to take some swings/risks to break that cycle. If it goes wrong then at least they tried and we still get a better pick

I think it's kinda weird that some people think it's impossible to improve from 9/10 wins, but if you get really bad for 1 year, you'll almost certainly get much better. If a team gets really bad, it's very likely that team remains really bad for longer than just a single season. Sometimes much longer.

One silver lining of all this. The debate/split in the fanbase over geno Smith and how good/bad he is is finally over. So ******* exhausting
Not necessarily. Now we'll all be watching him next year too like we do with Russ. And every time he does something good for the Raiders, the Geno fanboys will say SEE! And every time he does something bad for the Raiders, the GeNO's will say SEE! Leather, rinse, repeat.

When you're so busy trying to prove a point that you argue with someone who's agreeing with you it might be time for a break lol

Interesting take considering the very first thing I said in this conversation was that I agreed with you, lol.

Yep we already see it from posters. They’re so mad Geno is traded that they’re setting the scene. When you preach Geno is elite all year and then your team trades him a way for a 3rd it apparently takes the win out of your sales and makes you bitter.

We saw this with Macdonald. As soon as he hit a bump in the road the Pete apologists came out in droves saying “I told you so!” Only to be silent as we went on to win 10 games

I wanted to see Geno in the new offense, but this is better for the team in the long run
I had honestly started to get excited to see it too even tho I’m not a huge fan. I do think he was going to have a better year. Seahawks would’ve been crazy to pay him 45 million though.

The writing was on the wall from last off-season. They traded for Sam Howell for a reason. Now did they do it because they knew they were moving on from Geno. Or did they make the move because they knew Geno was going to ask for 50 mil, or whatever it is he is asking and they knew they didn't want to pay him that. I'm not really that surprised they moved on from him at this point.

I think it was probably amplified with Russ because of the middle finger he gave the organization on his way out of town

There were only a few (john63, etc) Russ fanboys left by the end

Who are all these posters that have been preaching that Geno is elite all year? I was here all season, and for years before that, and I think I remember like 1 person that said Geno is elite, and I'm pretty sure I remember that 1 person got ridiculed pretty mercilessly by many of you.

For that matter, who are all these pro Geno folks that have said Geno is impossible to replace? I have not seen a single poster say Geno is impossible to replace. Difficult to replace for next season given the available options? Sure. Impossible to replace? Nah. Haven't seen that said here ever.

Man. I learned to like Geno. But now this offseason really got interesting. Draft and all. Sanders, Howard (my pick), Dart, Shough… Everything is on the table.

Toffee, Maelstrom, and Keasley, were the main posters arguing that Geno was either elite and or hard to replace. They made those arguments quite a few times.

I think what they said is being twisted a bit and/or exaggerated. But admittedly, I'm sure I've missed some stuff.

No its really not. They made those arguments quite often and quite fervently.
Personally I felt Geno was talented but nowhere near elite. I was fine if he was back on a reasonable contract but I'm glad they held the line and didn't cave to his contract demands.

Losing invites more losing. Its why bad organizations are consistently bad and good organizations are consistently good.

There is nothing good about losing.
