This might be a slap in the face to the internal coaches, hopefully they don't jump ship for Kubiak now. All reports I heard was that they want to promote from within, someone who knew Kubiak's scheme and would build on it, and now this?

WHAT?!? I trust MacDonald but WHAT?!? TE coach to OC?!

What happened to keeping it internal and keeping the same scheme?
Well, Kubiak, was part of the Shanahan tree himself. Fluery, is another in the same line. I guess the elements, at least, possibly, principles etc may be shared between Kubiak and Fluery, so that continues ish. Fluery, helped coach George Kittle etc so maybe AJ Barner and company will develop into stars as well. We gotta believe that Mac and Schneider believe this will work. So we gotta fall in line.

I'm okay with that but remember it is Shafter reporting it... now if it was Brady Henderson I have more faith but could be true even a broken clock is right twice a day

We don’t “gotta”.

Many, myself included will be forced into line when we get proven to be idiots.

I’m falling in line cause I got no reason not to believe that Schneider and Mac has done their due diligence and fully believe in the guy. And that is good enough for me considering what Seattle just accomplished!

To play for Coach Dreamboat, you gotta block. If not, deuces. If this means using the TE more? I'm in. I'll get told I'm too "meh" about moves, and that's ok. After what we saw this year, why shouldn't I believe in a hire that Mike wants?

Just specualtion from doing some research on Fluery. His career path through qualtiy control positions tracks MM's and I assume posesses that analytical mind appreciated by MM & JS, also bringing continuity with the O scheme.

From Wiki:
Fleury was hired by the San Francisco 49ers in 2019 as defensive quality control coach, then shifting to being an offensive quality control coach in 2020.[9] He helped the team reach the Super Bowl in 2019 against the Kansas City Chiefs.[1] He was promoted to tight ends coach in 2022, coaching All-Pro George Kittle.[4][10] He was among the offensive coordinator candidates for the New England Patriots in 2024.[11]

There's no guarentee picking someone from within would keep the O staff intact. There could be some butt-hurt feelings in going that direction as well. I'll be curious to see who stays and who he brings from SF if this happens.

I don’t think MM does this unless he knows some of the offensive guys will stay. I think I read Benton has experience with him. The other question, “if” someone leaves, will he poach SF to fill those voids?
