Samething with our prior QB, but everybody blamed him for the issues. Just amusing how the script is flipped.
Prior QB couldn't hit dudes over the middle due to height and timing issues. Geno's hitting dudes over the middle with constant pressure in his face. It's good to have a QB who has clear line of sight.

I have to admit I have never been fully on board the Geno train. Always wanting to find the QBotF and the cap savings and all that.

Watching him last night, it is incredible how well he plays with this OL. The number of times it seemed like 2 guys were in his face as he finished his drop back and he would scramble and step up in the pocket and find a receiver was insane. Then when he does have time in the pocket he is dropping dimes like that sideline pass to DK I'm the 1st. He knows what Grubb wants to do and he executes at an extremely high level.

I hate to admit it, but I am now on the sign Geno up to a new deal train. Even if it's not team friendly. He deserves it.

Now we can start the narrative that "Geno can't throw to the left sideline past 5 yards". He's 2 for 7 in that area.
Interesting that is the only area where he wasn't lights out.
Yeah, for a right-hander maybe slightly harder throws.

It will be interesting to see if this is a one-time thing or if the pattern repeats. I intend this as an amusing observation, to see if there is a tendency, not a knock on Geno. That side might have either had a lockdown Detroit corner, or the throws on that side were to never-wins, butterfingers receivers.

I will agree with RAT in that I would like to see Geno (AND Grubb) do a little better in the Red Zone. It's my SOLE concern with them. Oline play not withstanding.
So glad to see the (AND Grubb). I do not understand why so many seem to forget there are 21 OTHER players on the field that influence a play. And, for the most part, Gino is not calling the plays being run.

It's amazing that the QB with so many issues is the franchises greatest QB and by a large margain. The same QB that forced our current QB to sit behind him.

Its not about the QB's though. My point is the Oline has been lackluster for ages now. It's something that needs to get sorted and soon.

Last night's first play to Metcalf was to the left, and a perfectly placed ball 21 yards down field. He did another to the left, again to Metcalf, perfectly placed, around 15 yards. Metcalf just did not catch it. The could not have been better placed. Gino can throw anywhere on the field.

I've officially changed my tune on Geno. I've seen enough. He's a hell of a QB, and I think he flat out CAN take us deep in the playoffs. He's just different this year. He's locked in. He's focused. He bounces back. He refuses to give up.

Nobody was more bummed than me when we made the trade to Denver. But. Much as I loved me some Russell Wilson, it's pretty amazing to see how he's lit it up in Denver and pissburg after leaving here. And how much better the QB play has been the last couple of years, after he left. Maybe he was getting credit at the end for what he did at the beginning, and that's why Geno was sitting? Because he *was* the franchise's greatest QB. Until he wasn't anymore. And now he's nobody's greatest QB.

I was curious where Geno's 395 yards ranked in franchise history. Looks like it's the 11th-most.

Please don't read into any of the following as me ripping on Geno again, I just found it interesting and decided to share:

There have been ten 400-yard passing games in Seahawks history. Four of those came from Dave Krieg, including one where he needed just 32 attempts (19 completions, exactly half the number Geno had on Monday night). Three were from Hasselbeck, with all three ranking in the top five, and two of them occurring in the same month (December 2002). Then there were two from Russ and one from Warren Moon.

I'm very surprised that I have no memory of the game that featured the most passing yards from a Seahawks quarterback, because looking at the stats, it looks like that game was an absolute trip:

08/29/17 - Seahawks 41, Texans 38

The two teams matched each other's score for three of the four quarters, with the only difference being the third quarter, where the Seahawks scored 6 to the Texans' 3. Blair Walsh was 2/2 on FGs that quarter, which might be the most surprising thing to happen in a game full of them.

Passing
Russell Wilson - 26/41 for 452 yards, 4 TDs 1 INT

The opposing quarterback, serial sexual predator DeShaun Watson threw for 402 yards himself, and impressively needed just 30 attempts to get there, which I believe is just four more than the number of sexual assault allegations that have been made against him. Watson matched Russ' four TDs, but also threw three picks. Sherman had two of the INTs, with the other coming from Earl which he took 78 yards for a TD. Frank Clark (2.0) and Michael Bennett (1.5) combined for 3.5 sacks on him, with Seahawks legend Dwight Freeney also adding one.

Receiving breakdown
Tyler Lockett - 6 catches, 121 yards
Paul Richardson - 6 catches, 105 yards, 2 TDs
Doug Baldwin - 6 catches, 54 yards
Jimmy Graham - 4 catches, 39 yards, 2 TDs
Tre Madden - 1 catch, 66 yards
Tanner McEvoy - 1 catch, 53 yards
Nick Vannett - 1 catch, 8 yards
J.D. McKissic - 1 catch, 6 yards

What also stands out, is wow was our running game ever godawful that day:
Russell Wilson - 4 carries, 30 yards
J.D. McKissic - 4 carries, 6 yards
Eddie Lacy - 6 carries, 0 yards
Thomas Rawls - 6 carries, -1 yards
Tyler Lockett - 1 carry, -2 yards

I'm guessing we must have had some OL injuries, because I can't imagine we started the following OL on purpose:

LT - Rees Odhiambo (this was the final outing of his 15-game Seahawks career)
LG - Ethan Pocic
C - Justin Britt
RG - Oday Aboushi
RT - Germain Ifedi

That sounds like a perfect RW O-line. Every D-lineman converges in the backfield like they went through revolving doors, only to look around in bewilderment wondering where the QB is. Meanwhile RW has bailed out way to one side or the other while that Benny Hill music plays in the background as he randomly runs around looking for a receiver 120 yards downfield before deciding to run for a 4 yard gain...
