Someone said it right :

That 37-34 prediction by Adam Rank will take years off everyone's life here.

But I just don't see the Niners scoring more than 23 points in this game (though I do see us scoring 37 on their ass, though).

This isn't the Bears they're facing.

Why the Adam Rank take?

I'm a little bummed that DJ is taking the 9ers though we're still going to win

I see a bunch of picks that lack conviction.

Recency bias is real. People see that the 49ers scored 42 points last week and give that fact too much weight.

The reality is that the 49ers have averaged 27.1 points per game (which is not bad), and scored 42 points against the Bears who are 22nd in scoring defense and 28th in total defense. The idea that they would pile up over 30 points against the second-ranked scoring defense seems unlikely.

Anything is possible, but it seems more likely that the 49ers' offense won't have it as easy as they did against the Bears.

They won't.

I mean look no further than the first meeting.

I know it was Week 1 but our Defense held them to 17 points.

So chances are it will be in that 17-23 range that our D gives up.

The key is can our offense score more than 23 points?

Yes they can.

Yes, the defense held the 49ers to 17 points. However, the 49ers racked up 384 yards of offense and dominated time of possession, 38 to 22. McCaffrey had 142 yards of total offense. (By contrast, Walker had 13 touches for 24 yards!!) If it weren't for some untimely penalties and bad luck, they would have scored more. They were in the red zone 5 times but only scored two TDs. It was the game where Jake Moody missed two field goals. George Kittle was also injured in the first half and missed more than half the game.

Hopefully, Macdonald has some answers to the Shanahan offense. And more important, I hope Kubiak has some answers to the Saleh defense.

They also only scored due to two utter brain fades by Riq… so it goes both ways.

I think it’s fair to think SF get to 20 but I dont see us giving up 30.
I think Seattle wins this game with some breathing room. 31-20

The media has been hugely guilty of recency bias across the NFL this year. A new can't-miss SB favorite every week.

Going to be the typical 9er Hawks throw down. Low scoring something to the tune of 23 - 17 Hawks. I dont think 9ers line will be able to pressure Darnold all game, so we should be able to move the ball. However I think we might struggle a bit in the redzone. Defense will contain CMC, I hope we put a spy on Purdy set the edges and reduce some of those drive extending scrambles. Also Pearsall killed us last game, hopefully our Dline can apply pressure consistently enough where Purdy will have to rely on quick check downs all game.

Keys:
Oline has to play good
Running game has to be effective
DLine has to pressure Purdy and set the edge
We have to tackle well in the open field
No turnovers

The great thing about how hyped up the 9ers are getting is that when we take them down, they will have to consider us the best team in the league. They won't have a choice.

It's just like it was back in '12 when the 9ers were the darlings...

Nah, they'll still say Rams, Denver is better. Wont be until we win the SB will they finally say, ok I guess that Seattle team was pretty good after all.
