Geezus man, I didn't say it was a conspiracy. I'm saying that over the years, it's clear that certain teams get favored. I don't even know why I bother trying to have a normal conversation on here.
Explain to me why the Rams got moved because of a bunch of guys on the list, but the Hawks get told AHEAD OF TIME that they can't move their game?

1. What evidence do you have that "over the years certain teams get favors?" That's all conspiracy nonsense.

2. The Rams Hawks game got moved, because just like the Raiders and Eagles game, they had too many players in protocol to play the game.

3. I have no idea why the league told the Hawks no. Because they don't really care about player safety?

You got me Soulfish, Roger Goodell and the league office definitely hates Seattle and loves..........idk, can you guys get me a list of all the teams the league favors so I can reference them for these discussions?

I don't want to butt into you guy's argument, but there was an incident that as a Hawk fan, pissed me off.

A number of years ago, there were several east coast teams, ie Giants and Steelers, that complained about having to travel to the west coast on successive weekends, and the league agreed to put that requirement into their scheduling matrix. However, there have been a number of occasions where west coast teams traveling east, from the Pacific to the Eastern time zone, on successive weekends, something that is more difficult to do because of the time change/jet lag.

That not withstanding, I agree with Sarge, that this notion that we're some sort of victim of a bias is overstated.

So the NFL protects "legacy" teams do they? How soon we forget last year:

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/292 ... in-12-days

The Steelers - who, I assume the conspiracy theorists here think are a "favored" NFL team, right?

Those same Steelers had to play three games in 12 days last year.

That explosion you heard was the crumbling of those theories.

Done talking about it. I have an opinion, don't like it, I couldn't care less. You clearly don't want to just have a regular discussion, so what's the use? Waste of time.

All I'm hoping for is that IF the Hawks have a bunch of guys on the list on Thursday or Friday, they do the same courtesy for the Hawks and move the game up a day or two. Not sure why that's so hard to understand.

We live in south Alaska, almost 1,000 miles from our nearest division rival. Of course we're going to get screwed on the travel when there are more than 3-4 east coast teams on our away schedule.

btw, Hawks have been dominating in early east coast games in the past couple of years. Probably why none of the conspiracy nuts have brought up how unfair that is of late.

But if we lose a couple 10:00am starts, bet the mortgage there will be threads complaining.

Nah, that 10am thing hasn't mattered for several years. Was always blown out of proportion.
Side note, BOTH games being at 4pm tomorrow night. Yet another great decision by the NFL

There could/can be normalcy. Plenty of people/places/events are normal

It's a choice.

The NFL will have to make theirs

Absolutely is NOT "Normalcy"...Those "Plenty of People/Places/Events" can PRETEND like everything is "Normal", but fact is, with COVID-19 enmeshed in EVERYTHING, EVERYONE & EVERYWHERE around us? = Not Normal.
It's NOT a matter of "CHOICE", with whatever direction the NFL or for that matter, any of us "Choose" to take, we still have to DEAL with every facet of the COVID-19 Virus.
I assure you that I have and will continue doing EVERYTHING in my power to protect my loved ones, it's up to y'all whether or not, you want to tune out the know it all's, in favor of doing what's right by yours.
I had a brother & brother-in-law who died of this damned disease, I have a niece who is in a nursing home, has had TWO separate strokes, that were caused by the damned COVID-19 Virus, Prognosis = SHE WILL NEVER recover to anything resembling "Normal".

The only people with a right to gripe are those who made travel plans this weekend -- and are now stuck. Everyone else should get a life.

I bought 4 tickets to this game four months ago and had been planning it with my adult kids.

None of us can make a Tuesday game (something about middle class people having a job they are expected to be at).

Not to mention, imagine the cost of a last minute flight change just a few days before Christmas!

So two days before gameday, they pop this change on us and WILL NOT refund our tickets. They say, "look at the fine print where we F you." They say we can sell them or give them away. Little do they care that by moving it to Tuesday, they have devalued the tickets drastically and none of us stand a chance at recovering even half of what we paid. There's a fire sale on Ticketmaster if anybody wants to go to a Tuesday game on the cheap.

So they don't provide the service we bought, and basically say F you when it comes to doing what is right. I hate to play the, "greedy rich people," card... but that sure seems to be the play of the day. Tens of thousands of middle class fans are basically getting shafted.

I wasn't complaining about getting screwed on the travel. Heck, I wasn't even talking about ourselves, at least not exclusively. My point was that the league caved into a scheduling issue raised by a couple of east coast teams yet they did not make a similar accommodation for teams on the west coast. For example, this season, the Niners played consecutive road games at Detroit and at Philadelphia, both in the Eastern Time Zone.

And please, don't associate me with the conspiracy nuts. I do not believe that the league is out to screw us, only that for one reason or another, they cave in to some teams when they start bellyaching. It could be something as simple as the squeaky wheel getting the grease, but we can't deny that there are some abnormalities that are difficult to explain.

And BTW, we're not the only team/fan base to complain about early kickoff times when traveling to the east coast:

Teams that play in the Pacific time zone are tired of early kickoffs on the East Coast (and even earlier kickoffs in London), and they want the NFL to limit them.

Toward that end, the 49ers, Chargers and Cardinals have proposed a rule to be discussed at next week’s league meeting that would limit the number of early games that teams in the Pacific Time Zone can play.

I hear what you're saying. I almost had a similar thing happen as I was planning on attending the Chargers-Chiefs last Thursday then Hawk-Rams the following Sunday. Fortunately, we never followed through with our thought.

One of the problems is the secondary market. It would be simple for the teams to reimburse, or offer to reimburse, ticket holders for games that were canceled or rescheduled. But how do you get the money to the affected party if you bought your tickets via Ticketmaster or Stub Hub?

When the pandemic first broke out, there were a lot of people that had paid for very expensive tours that had to be postponed or canceled, so you're not alone. I had a tour to Iceland scheduled for June of 2020 that I had to postpone until the following year and was able to get my flight tickets reimbursed by the airline, but others with more rigid schedules than mine weren't so fortunate.

It would be a good rule change. However, your article is from 2018. It was discussed by the NFL competition committee in 2019 & 2020 and rejected. It could be brought up again.

I certainly respect your viewpoint, but I disagree

We live "normally" with all kinds of infectious diseases and risks. Its life. We deal with it, and it sucks, but its normal

Most of the country is getting around to this outlook on Covid. Seattle and many of its residents are behind (further to come mindset wise) but you all (and the NFL) will get there too.

Take Care

I wasn't necessarily advocating the proposal. I was using the issue to help demonstrate that there is a difference between how the east coast teams are treated compared to those here on the west coast.

Let's just win the damn game tonight, regardless who is playing. Rams are a better team this year, clearly.
Still can be knocked off though.

We sold our tickets for 2/3 what we paid for them. That stung, but what bothered me more was the fact that we can't get a refund on the 30% "service fee" that Ticket Master tacked on when we first bought them.

And then the league has BOTH games playing at the same time. Yet another fail by the NFL. And I don't care if it's because of "tv contracts"

Screw that, make it right and stagger the games.

Turns out it was the NFLPA that vetoed the Rams having to forfeit the game. Another monkeywrench!

Thanks guys.

NFLPA stepped in because the payers wouldn't have been paid if the game was canceled. I bet no player (on both teams) wanted to miss their game check.
